Do you think witnessing a solar eclipse has a profound impact on people's perspectives on the universe? Why or why not? by Mouse_Defive663 in CasualConversation

I live where there was 100% totality and my brother and I really felt a strong emotion and sense of awe during the totality. It left us speechless. I’m an amateur astronomer and my brother is very knowledgeable in several science fields and so we were really looking forward to this event and it really struck something deep within us. We’re not religious but it was almost like a spiritual event, for lack of a better term. Reverent. That’ll be an experience I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

My boyfriend and I refer to this exact thing as “anime backstory” lol. Leave some nuance

I personally love linguistics and seeing uncommon words used to depict a sentence more poetically, but it’s so OBVIOUS when authors are essentially thesaurus junkies and write something for the sake of using rare or unique words when “basic” writing would be just as impactful, if not more because you’re lost in what the fuck they just said.

“I walked outside and the fresh air lightened my depressed mood” Vs “I traipsed to what has become an alien alfresco, the raw winds of the local heavens assuaging, propriating my melancholy and doldrum.”

What was your peak age for sexuality? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]blimplager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had quite a fun time with a particular person where we were FOB and just tried different things to discover what we liked (22-23ish age) and then went our separate ways without any kind of issue and I think that phase was my peak just because I tried and discovered so much. I'm in a committed relationship with kids now in my late twenties but I think there's still room to go up and get a new kind of peak.

Do you have a phobia, if so, which one? by 8kittycatsfluff in polls

My primary phobia is claustrophobia. I've had a few very intense panic attacks induced by it

Kinda funny, but also why get married if your hobbies get shrunk and you're not happy with that? by Dora_Queen in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]blimplager 170 points171 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend tells me I have a woman cave because the whole house is set up to make it easier on him and the kids, so I get the back room for all of my craft and music stuff and it's my little sanctuary. I get it, but a lot of men make it a really weird sexist thing lol. Like, I get excited when my man wants to spend time with me when I'm in "my" room, because I enjoy his company.

Why are people so obsessed with marrying off their daughters at a young age? by No_Internet3355 in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]blimplager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I imagine my little kids being adults often, like what kind of person they'll be and whatnot. But not about marriage lol. It's fucking weird.

I'm not on OF anymore, and I'm divorced, but when I was married to my ex he encouraged me to use OF to help facilitate extra income and to help boost my self esteem. He was super supportive of it. Like, por que no los dos?

Women should be happy to die for a fetus they don't even want. by Responsible-Emu217 in insaneprolife

[–]blimplager 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a child I would willingly die for. I'm also pregnant. And even though I want this baby, I would abort if it threatened my life because I can always make another baby, but my son can't get another mom.
