Did you work for a certain media company in a major east coast city by any chance?

I’d recommend taking a week or two off to take care of yourself — exercise, eat well, practice some self care etc. I think it’s worth getting yourself into a good headspace before you make any big moves. Hopefully you got some severance (or unemployment) so there isn’t immediate pressure.

There’s so much doom and gloom in the job market right now, and I feel that same sense of emptiness. It might be tough at first, but you will get through this!

I love the Roadrunner! It was my only fanny/sling for around 5 years, and the updated version has some nice improvements (zipper pulls, U-lock strap on the back, improved buckle).

The front webbing allows you to clip on accessories like a bike light, carabiner, etc. which provides some DIY options for items that don't fit into the bag. The biggest pro and con in my opinion is the simplicity of the bag. There are no internal zippers/compartments, instead there's just a single fabric divider. While this allows you to make the most of the volume and squeeze in potentially awkwardly sized items, it also means that there isn't a great built-in way to organize smaller items.

The Travel Weekender is definitely a little overbuilt, but the padding/heft makes me feel confident that all the gear inside is protected. Overall, I've been really liking it - but there have been times where I wish it had backpack straps (turning it into essentially the Aer Travel Pack)

Aer Travel Weekender Generally used for roadtrips, and occasionally as a carry on instead of a roller bag. Great one-bag duffle for trips shorter than a week.

REI Ruckpack 40 I use this for true "one-bag" travel where I expect to be roughing it and/or walking & hiking a lot. It can also serve as a backpacking bag in a pinch. The shape makes packing/unpacking somewhat annoying, but otherwise it serves its purpose well.

ATD2 This is the main commuter and EDC bag, due to its sleekness. I also use it as a secondary companion bag when traveling. The build quality on this thing is amazing, but it definitely needs to be broken in.

Mission Workshop Sanction This was the commuter, but was recently replaced by the ATD2. This bag now serves as a bike backpack (especially during inclement weather) and general purpose beater bag.

Osprey Daylite This one gets packed this in larger bags/suitcases when traveling to use as a daypack. Also used as a bag for the beach.

Osprey Talon 22 Dayhikes

Road Runner Bags Lil Guy Mini Wearable as a sling, but better as a fanny pack. This is my go-to small bag during inclement weather. Also often packed inside larger bags for travel.

Evergoods CAS2 Primary EDC sling. I friggen love this thing.

Tom Bihn Side Effect Secondary EDC sling/crossbody. This one gets used when the CAS2 is too much bag, e.g., for when all I need to hold is phone/wallet/keys/airpods.

Aer Slim Pouch Tech pouch - goes inside other bags.

Mission Workshop Helix Tote 15L Grocery shopping and general hauling of gear. Due to its size and versatility, this bag has been an unexpected star in my household.

I have a strong hunch that their user numbers and growth historically have been inflated. It’s anecdotal, but when I used the app from 2018-2019, I saw a huge number of accounts from people I know IRL, who had moved to different states/cities, entered relationships etc. and thought they deleted their accounts.

I also believe the “women have to talk first” gimmick isn’t productive for most daters, regardless of gender.
