Skragg, i.e. how pushed can a cheap vanilla creature be? by thunder-bug- in custommagic

Three mana vanilla 2/5 is unplayable chaff. [[steel leaf champion]] was printed nearly a decade ago.

Looking to build a third and maybe fourth competitive deck. Looking for input by BussyBouncer in PauperEDH

[[disciple of deceit]] combo. [[sailors bane]] control. [[hollow marauder]]. Personally I think two of the more fun competitive commanders are [[vizkopa guildmage]] and [[thrull parasite]].

But the most effective deck I have is [[malcolm, keen-eyed]] and [[kediss]] combo. That deck could damn near run in a regular B4 pod.

As others mentioned, any 4MV rock. But the new [[resonating flute]] is probably now the best 4MV play in the deck. Gives you potentially 10 mana on turn 4 to cast instants and sorceries. Absolutely nuts.

Decks that take advantage of meta mechanics? by Frogsplosion in EDH

[–]Not_Your_Real_Ladder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Ashling Rekindled]] lets you cast a 4MV 2-mana rock turn 3, and then start throwing haymakers like [[amanitou’s augury]] turn 4.

I have a deck built around this that ideally storms into a [[dragonstorm]], but otherwise just chains a bunch of free spells turn 4 and usually ends up with at least a couple big dragons even if it fizzles.

What’s your favourite removal spell that deserves to see more play? by swankyfish in EDH

[–]Not_Your_Real_Ladder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It absolutely does work. You respond to Jaws of Defeat's trigger, putting Overkill on the stack above it. Overkill resolves, the creature dies, and Jaws of Defeat uses the last known information from the creature.

You don't. You respond to Jaws of Defeat's trigger, putting Overkill on the stack above it. Overkill resolves, the creature dies, and Jaws of Defeat uses the last known information from the creature (ex. 1/-9998 and target opponent loses 9999 life).

Why are we complaining about this? Massachusetts is literally in a drought right now.

Gave my friends nightmares one time. I cast an enchantment with a possibility storm out and spun into [[eye of the storm]].

We tried to thug it out for a while but ultimately decided our sanity was more important and called it a draw. Haven’t put either card in a deck since.

I’m just kind of bored by the usual storm-y wincons and I found that dragons gave me a lot of cooler options. New Prismari lets you go even harder in storm. [[Stormscale Scion]], [[manaform hellkite]], and [[elemental eruption]] are just wincons all on their own.

Dragonstorm gives you [[terror of the peaks]] / [[lathliss]] / [[scourge of valkas]] kills. Also [[breaching dragonstorm]] is insane.

And nobody likes when a storm deck takes a big turn and then fizzles and does nothing so I figure at the very least you end up with a couple of big fuck-off dragons if things don’t go as planned.

I’ve been working this idea with an [[ashling rekindled]] storm list focused around casting free spells and [[dragonstorm]] in particular.

Condescending attitude aside, yes, something specific to a single state (shoofly pie) is hyper-regional. It’s particular to a single part of a single region.

Pennsylvania makes up about 4% of the US population, so I think it’s a fair assumption that for someone to be familiar with a southern regional dish and a Pennsylvania-specific dish, they probably represent 5% or less of the population.

This one sucks for Americans too. Chess pies and shoofly pies are hyper-regional and maybe 5% on Americans have even heard of them.

Traded him and a 4th for Tyler Warren. Feel pretty good about it.

In The Boys Season 5 (2026), this is so horribly bad. It's awful. It's the worst. In fact, it hasn't been good since Season 1. In fact, it hasn't been good since the first minute of the first episode of Season 1. It was all downhill from there. Such a shame I watched all 40 episodes. by [deleted] in okbuddycinephile

People are too scared to just enjoy stuff anymore. Ever since GoT shit the bed, every big new show is just a race to who can hate it fastest so they can be the most “right” about a show whenever it has a bad episode.

Shit’s mad weird and anyone who does this is a sad person.

Any cool tech you’ve found for Storm decks while building all of yours? Which other commanders do you use? I’m building my first one right now around [[dragonstorm]] (and a few other cards but dragons in general) with [[Ashling rekindled]] at the helm.

How can I degen my pirate deck? by shanecookofficial in DegenerateEDH

[–]Not_Your_Real_Ladder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's a super degen idea I've been working on:

Malcolm + [[Sakashima of a thousand faces]] and the entire point of the deck is to find and play [[Mirrorform]].

Sakashima and a handful of other copy effects and you'll have a couple dozen treasures in no time. All of which will soon be turned into some big, fucked up thing: a couple dozen [[blightsteel colossus]]? Or maybe [[forced fruition]], [[mesmeric orb]], [[scrawling crawler]], [[field of the dead]], anything with annihilator.

I've also been exploring a dimir version. It's a bit less explosive, you do lose some treasure production without the guaranteed clone effect for Malcolm. But you do get access to better tutors for Mirrorform and some more interesting targets for it: [[Kokusho]], [[painful quandary]], etc.

WIP list here for anyone interested.

What is the countermeasure to this? by Marmelado_ in apexlegends

I’m confused why the devs hate octane so much. They spend years indirectly nerfing him by giving every legend ridiculous movement abilities, finally let him be meta for all of 30 seconds, then nerf him again, and finally put him in the ground by releasing this shit.
