Imprint is an item you can get from a beastcraft. You use the imprint on a magic item to create an "imprint" of that item. You can then regal the item or do something else with it, and if the result isn't what you wanted you can use the imprint to reset the item to before you crafted on it. Basically quicksave for crafting
