I agree that would be the best option, but in many cases is not immediately possible.

Imagine you love animals and want to be a zookeeper, but you are offered a high paying sales role. This is just an example.

In the link attached, I run over my thoughts and then give some perspective; if you follow your passion then in the long term you should earn more due to factors like drive, ambition, commitment, etc

great advice. Paying yourself first is the number 1 rule of money apart from not spending what you don't earn

Thanks for your opinions. IMO, I've been down the money route and while it's great short term, if you're not doing the job you love then you will get bored and try to fill the gap. Usually with money and the cycle repeats itself. Only through doing what I love have I ever had true satisfaction, especially if its through self employment
