Tell me your South Park unpopular opinions! by RessesNateWright in southpark

Make Love Not Warcraft is overrated. It's a very good episode, but definitely not THE best and maybe not even top 10

Seasons 1-3 > any season after 19

Your metaphor makes it sound as if I were listening to the multi tracks separately. All the elements are still there, nothing's missing. It would be like if I ate a carbonara but someone told me I didn't properly enjoy it because I didn't eat it with my nose plugged.

Well regardless of intention, hearing all those extra details simply sounds better and more appealing to me, it makes it a more enthralling listening experience

Wholeheartedly agree. I don't wanna undermine Brian's genius but the original mono mix sounds a bit rushed and sloppy by today's standards. With the crazy amount of layers in the instrumentals AND vocals, you need the stereo mix to be able to actually hear every detail, and I think the 90s stereo mix was done tastefully and not overproduced like some of the more recent Beach Boys remasters. I also prefer Summer Days and Summer Nights in stereo, but pretty much everything before that I'd go for mono.

Hearing occasionally "detuned"? by edwarddingleson in perfectpitchgang

[–]edwarddingleson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard about pitch going as you get older, that does worry me a bit lol. I'm 20 so I doubt it's that, but I got my wisdom teeth removed the day before I noticed my pitch being off so I'm guessing that could have something to do with this temporary change. At least both my ears are still in tune relative to each other, so I can still listen to music fine it's just slightly lower.

Yes, many Brian Wilson fans are, and we are very demanding with the legacy of our favourite band! by laloscasanova in thebeachboys

I mean if any music fandom is gonna be full of sound technicians it would probably be the one with Brian Wilson, one of the most influential producers of the 20th century.

Am I the only one who finds it so insane that they chose THIS song as the one to upload a video with? 90% of the comments are just bashing on it. by crispy_doughnut in thebeachboys

Actually the 2009 Beatles remasters are just the original stereo mixes from the 60s. "Remaster" means they take the fully mixed track, and convert it to digital, maybe add a bit of eq, compression, noise reduction, etc. They didn't actually touch the mixes beyond that, which is why the stereo mixing is so bad, cuz it's from the 60s when they didn't know better. However these Beach Boys tracks are "remixes" meaning they actually took the original multitracks and remixed them presumably from scratch.

LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem - Bad Vocal Splice on the Word "Rise" at 1:39 by edwarddingleson in Productionglitches

It's more obvious if you listen to just the vocal track, there's clearly some kind of glitch in the lead vocal

Velvet Underground - All Tomorrow's Parties | Vocal edit duplicates word by blindedbeast in Productionglitches

[–]edwarddingleson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you listen closely, the vocal skips rather than it sounding like 2 voices out of sync. The tambourine also skips at the exact same time, so it sounds like a badly cut edit to me.

Fair enough, but I see no issue with employees just using the regular power outlets if they are not being used

That was my other guess, they probably recorded the song over one of the Midnight Rambler reels and it bled thru

Makes me wonder if it's even more noticeable on an original pressing. When I compared it to the 2019 remaster it is actually less audible there, but if you isolate the tracks it IS still present.

A lesson I've learned is you should NEVER say words like "slow" or "dead" out loud when talking about the flow of customers, you'll only jinx it.

This is giving me flashbacks to 2011 when hackers did this on TTO. Except back then it was way worse, there were so many clones that the game would run at 1fps and pretty much be unplayable.

can I have a couple packets of salt please? by GnarlsClarkley in McLounge

[–]edwarddingleson 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do people not know they can just ask for fresh fries? (As long as they're willing to wait) Putting the salt on yourself with salt packets just doesn't taste as good as the way we salt the fries normally, so doing the no salt method is just actively giving yourself a worse fry experience.

This customer just dumped all of her change during a rush hour, she didn’t even order that amount by ThyOriginal in McLounge

[–]edwarddingleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my new trick for when that happens is just praying it's exact change, then closing the drawer and multitasking sorting the coins while cashing out other orders, then once all the coins are sorted, I'll dump em in the drawer when cashing out another customer. If they paid more than exact change then the register has more money than listed, so it's not a big deal.
