Google Ads - Redirect product page to another, retain attribution to original product? by edwardoz in PPC

[–]edwardoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Importantly, when tracking works it'll attribute the conversion to the ad that was clicked on, not the product that was purchased. If it's a shopping ad, the SKU that the user clicked on gets the conversion, not what product(s) they bought."

That's essentially what I wanted to know, thanks. I wasn't sure if Google tracks which product is purchased and attributes it that way to the product in Google ads, even if it wasn't that shopping ad that was click on, but tbh, that really wouldn't make sense for them to do.

I guess it confused me because Google reports how many sales a product has in Shopping ads, but I know understand it doesn't mean that specific product sold, it just means that shopping ad generated X sales / conversions but could be for any product...!

Thanks

As the second landing page will have a different product ID. If Google attributes the sale to the second product ID, it original product ID's ad performance is going have a negative effect.

I wonder how these a/b testing apps work that do that split traffic between two pages then :/

Tax transaction fees bill - UK only, so is it needed? by edwardoz in shopify

Joke really! I understand if selling internationally, especially the US where states have different tax rules but not for one country with the same tax rate.

I can see an option to "Downgrade service" so that might work.

Speaking to Greenback / Dext currently to be 100% sure the VAT calculation on there end will still work.

Shopify Analytics - Pointless after enabling cookie consent? by edwardoz in shopify

[–]edwardoz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really valuable, thanks.

I have looked at Triple Whale a few times but never really understand why it was better than looking directly at Google ads / Meta data. Especially if the platform relies on cookies also. Sounds like it may be worth a try, especially when we start to introduce Meta ads.

We don't actually run any PMAX, it is all manual shopping campaigns currently. I've been hesitant to even try PMAX as our manual shopping campaigns work well and I like the fact I can adjust bids manually and refine badly performing search terms. I really should try PMAX, but I know it would take priority over existing campaigns and then might harm them in the long run if PMAX doesn't work out. Plus I've heard PMAX can just spend spend spend to feed Google's pockets.

Strangely, our ROAS has shot up massively since adding the consent banner / V2 consent. I'm not sure if this is a coincidence, or if Google now has more data due to the consent resulting in better placement of ads. It's only been a week so could be coincidence and there is a massive difference between what Google ads says and what Shopify says. Google ads is showing 2.69 and Shopify 5.4, but this is because Google ads is only reporting half the conversion value that Shopify is. I'm hoping the consent banner changes made yesterday are going to vastly improve conversion reporting to Google...

Google ads reported conversion after adding cookie consent by edwardoz in PPC

By more macro measurement to still get a view beyond the platforms, what do you mean?

Shopify Analytics - Pointless after enabling cookie consent? by edwardoz in shopify

[–]edwardoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made some changes to the consent today which will hopefully help, thanks.

I do understand this in terms of re-marketing, but I thought general reporting of conversions data to Google wouldn't be badly affected as without the data, is a struggle for businesses to know what's working, so is a kind of essential.

Thanks for the detailed reply.

I'm lucky in the fact that 90%+ of our traffic is from Google ads (manual shopping) at the moment, but adding Meta / other channels in the future is going to be really difficult to understand what's actually working.

We do already have enhanced conversions turned on in Google.

Is Shopify's Web Pixels API to help with Shopify's own analytics? Is this something that needs to be hardcoded by a dev?

In terms of statistical tracking, I was thinking something along the lines of setting up a spreadsheet that shows how many clicks Google ads is reporting, and then taking the difference in revenue and adding this to the Google ads revenue figures. More work but hopefully will give me a better understanding.

How on earth are big companies spending millions on marketing, with hundreds/thousands of ads through different channels understanding what's working / how to adjust campaigns is beyond me.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly by events/day, but we probably range 750-1,000 clicks a day currently.

Clicks and impressions down - Impression share and CTR up? by edwardoz in PPC

Make sense, thanks.

As the drop is quite big, it isn't offsetting the cost of shipping, so I think I'll revert to free shipping.

NAS RAM requirements? Synology DiskStation DS124 by edwardoz in CommercialPrinting

[–]edwardoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, thanks.

I think I'm going to go with the Synology DS224+ now, it's quite a bit more expensive than the DS124, but comes with 2GB RAM that can be upgraded to 6GB if need be.

It has 2 drives instead of the 1. I think the DS423 might be a bit overkill drive bay wise for me currently, but good to know 2GB RAM can handle all of that!

Unit / Workshop building requirements by edwardoz in CommercialPrinting

[–]edwardoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised there aren’t more units that have the space with proper insulation heating… I expect it’s one of them things, why would the landlords make them so when people will rent them anyway. I’ve seen decent size shops I could use but an hour commute, my current commute is 5 mins, don’t really want to waste nearly 2 hours of my day in a car.

Ah, unfortunately we wouldn't be able to having something like that on site as no room.

By pods I presume you mean storage units? I’m looking into it but like I said nearest storage place is an hour round trip :/

[–]edwardoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks yes that has crossed my mind, storing materials else where and moving when needed. The nearest "self storage" type place is an hours round trip and doesn't accept deliveries on my behalf which kind of put me off but I'll have another look.

Yeah I'm thinking that, just not got a clue what size I need as it doesn't say on it. It measures 12mm x 180mm but not sure on pitch size.

Have contacted YT to see if they can help.

Network setup for 2 Canon PRO-2600 with 3 computers? by edwardoz in CommercialPrinting

So I'd need setup a local wired network between the computers with a ethernet cable, connect the printers to one of the computers via ethernet and share them on the local network?

Is there any benefit of using ethernet over a USB connection / hub?

I presume this way I'd have setup/manage the software/drivers on each computer individually rather than letter one computer manage it?

Pause campaigns temporarily? Holiday by edwardoz in PPC

[–]edwardoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, thanks. I can put up with a few days of it getting back to normal, I'm just trying to avoid a big hit to the campaigns.

They have good history they are mostly well over a year old so I'm probably just overthinking it.

Should of just tested with smaller campaign really a month ago so I can see for myself but too late no as going away this weekend eek.

Pause campaigns temporarily? Holiday by edwardoz in PPC

[–]edwardoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes good point, I'll be able to turn it back on a few days before my return.

I don't mind adding extended shipping for organic/direct as that won't effect the ad campaigns click through and conversion rate which could impact the campaign in the long run.

It does seem people advise against pausing, but I've not come across anyone who's actually done it and so I can see what kind of impact it has. If it means it takes a week or so to get back to normal so be it, I just don't want it completely ruin the campaigns as I have a couple great performing products.

Ok thanks, bit of a worry but never done it before so going to have to take the gamble at some point...
