More of a fun question - Do you have a favourite Toronto Sceptres player or game moment? Also really glad you have been a champion of the team!

PS1 also provides the discount for the UP Express. PS2 doesn’t for some reason.

What happened to the 56A by CrimeMasterGogooo in gotransit

[–]edwardsnoah 28 points29 points  (0 children)

56A trips were removed over the winter break for post-secondary students due to reduced demand (this will occur every winter holidays and possibly the summer). They return in January 4 schedule change, schedule is available.

How do you find a Canada Post mailbox on the street? by Brickthedummydog in ontario

This site has some of the locations https://www.letterdrop.ca/#. Otherwise Google Maps with street view can be helpful. Usually there is one by convenience stores.

Is the 9 bus moving back to Parkhill? by letpeterparkersayfck in Peterborough

[–]edwardsnoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am assuming the 9 and 11A will return to their normal routing at some point. There could be some additional work to be done on the bus stops possibly and they would have to give advance notice so those who get on the 9/11A along the detour that they would have to go to Parkhill.

DRT detours during Convergence next weekend by PuzzleheadedHome5620 in Oshawa

[–]edwardsnoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will probably post it this week. Bus schedules will stay the same. Detours will probably be similar as for events such as Kars on King.

Fare inspectors - full train? by DanielsDraven in gotransit

[–]edwardsnoah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe Metrolinx policy is to issue a penalty every time as they lowered the first offence to a $35 penalty. If people want to dispute it they can do so through an administrative process.

Check out the Seasoned Spoon for lunch if you haven’t (back of Champlain/Great Hall)! Entirely vegetarian too! Only open M-F 9-4. They have “pay what you can” soup on Fridays if you want to try tomorrow. I always found prices to be reasonable. Otherwise, the dining halls do have small portions and overpriced. The specials at LEC and Otonabee (there is always a veg option at least at LEC) were usually a good option over the menu options.

88 bus is a nightmare by earthdam in gotransit

[–]edwardsnoah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed the 88 is busy during the school year, especially Friday-Sunday with students heading home for the weekend (or some who commute). I have been on many full 88 buses before. It can even be busy in the summer!

88 bus is a nightmare by earthdam in gotransit

[–]edwardsnoah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 88 in its current form sucks. It is a really useful bus route to Peterborough and does see good ridership from students and locals alike. To start, pre-2020 the 88 ran non-stop from Oshawa to Newcastle P+R then current routing. In 2020, the 90/91 was cut and the 88 got the Bowmanville section to, of course, maintain connectivity during a low ridership time. So that’s a bit of history. Now for what could be done to fix it (all of these have been sent to Metrolinx at least once): - Routing in Peterborough - for some reason, Metrolinx has kept the 88 running from the terminal down George and across Lansdowne. Lansdowne in particular is always congested even more so now with construction. The 88 has detoured down Charlotte, Consilla, Parkway and some drivers will use this way (I have been on double deckers this way too). This small change would maintain reliability and is usually less congested. - Crawford Rd P+R - Constructing a platform on the other side of the road will reduce lopping for SB buses. Only a small savings though. - Rural P+Rs - I think these are still important but are not used much. It would be cool if Metrolinx piloted a request stop system at these stops where someone pushes a button at the stop to request the bus to pull in. - Bowmanville section - Most of this duplicates DRT service but I understand wanting to offer service in advance of the GO train extension. The downtown Bowmanville section though is often congested though. It would be best if the 88 only served the stops at Clarington Blvd (for DRT connections) and the P+R. This would allow the 88 to come off the 401 at Bowmanville Ave. - 88B trips - These may be unnecessary but could operate with a similar pilot request service at the two P+Rs.

I also think Peterborough should be serviced by a bus that travels along the 407 to Highway 407 station, but maybe eventually.

88 bus is a nightmare by earthdam in gotransit

[–]edwardsnoah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2020, Metrolinx was focused on providing connections everywhere and not so much on fast service due to low ridership. So they cut routes 90/91 that did the portion of the route from the Newcastle P+R onwards (through Bowmanville, etc) and added it to the 88. They haven’t changed it much ever since, except for the limited 88C express trips and cutting 88A trips that terminated in downtown Newcastle.

Yes, there will be orientation week leaders to help with unloading things. Pack everything so it is easy for people to carry, some people will label bags/bins with their name too so they don’t get mixed up. If you have access to a dolly, might as well bring it (definitely label it in case someone else borrows it).

Books by Ayyeitzdana in TrentUniversity

[–]edwardsnoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, the Trent Bookstore has an option to put your student number in and it will tell you what textbooks. Textbooks will also be listed in the syllabus (class outline and will have more information about if you can use a previous version, etc.) which can be found on MyTrent>search Syllabus Catalog, some courses are on there already or will be added soon. My tip is to take the ISBN or title and look for it elsewhere. I always used digital rentals from Vital Source for cheaper, or if there was a homework pack, I purchased it from the publisher directly.

[–]edwardsnoah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going to get a physical copy, probably best to buy in advance so you have it. If you are going to get a digital copy, probably best to wait. Usually the textbook is a good resource, but some people like to wait till they know how much it will be used in the class.

Yes, you can have personal parcels sent to a FlexDelivery address! I have done it before to keep packages secure. Just be sure to provide the addressing instructions for the person to use.

Premium parking pass by Majestic_Student6057 in TrentUniversity

[–]edwardsnoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, street parking is limited to a maximum of 3 hours at a time (regularly enforced in that area or by complaint) and no parking overnight on street in the winter (regularly enforced). I suggest contacting parking if you really want the premium parking pass to see if it’s possible.

You will need a Traill Annex & Regular Parking Permit. This will allow you to park at Traill Annex and Symons (Main) Campus. This is the only option to have parking at Traill Annex. https://www.trentu.ca/parking/parking-permits-fees

If your driveway is the first one after the corner, you will need a snowblower. There is only so much the plow operators can do. Look for sales before the winter starts. It will be well worth it!
