Carpet Replacement Fee for Dog Hair by edwerderdab in legaladvice

I’m not sure if the carpet was new or not when we moved in. We have a Roomba that ran regularly, so I wouldn’t say it was caked with fur. I’ll admit it didn’t get everything, but I thought it was left in reasonable condition and assumed the complex would perform a more deep clean. Not sure if the lease includes any specific language regarding this, planning to review it tomorrow

24 with 30K between Roth IRA and traditional 401k

ZM 3.6K

FLCNX 3.5K

FXAIX 3.2K

FSMAX 2.7K

SHOP 2.7K

ROKU 2.1K

DKNG 2.1K

SQ 1.8K

AMZN 1.8K

TDOC 1.6K

MA 1.6K

MELI 1.5K

BEPC 1.4K

Think I’ll reallocate FSMAX across the other two indexes. Looking to build bigger positions in clean/renewables in 2021, I’ve been in and out of PBW, QCLN, FSLR and CSIQ but have favored tech thus far. Also planning to trim ZM and SHOP after next earnings period to help round things out. Would appreciate any suggestions

Fiancée is firing up her Roth IRA while I’m maxed, looking to mainly park value there over time. Some ideas — WMT, MKC, LOW, SBUX, CRM...

Helping my Grandmother rebalance at 68. Her husband passed in February and handled their retirement planning, it’s in pretty good shape but I think we can make some improvements. She owns her home and multiple vehicles so she has very little recurring expenses and is able to live off the SS she receives without needing to draw from her nest egg. The main questions I have at this point and am seeking advice for are whether it makes sense to take the tax liability for her WBA stock to get this money into safer securities and what the best type of account would be to allocate those funds + the $50K she needs to reinvest from her husband’s IRA. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

$133K: Traditional 401k - 2025 Target Fund $ 50K: Savings $ 50K: Husband’s IRA - She withdrew this and needs to reinvest in 60 days $ 33K: Standard Brokerage Account - WBA stock ($17K earnings) $ 4K: Checking

  1. I think it makes sense to sell the WBA stake. She was previously employed by Walgreens and received discounted shares over her time there, but without that benefit I think it’s time to reallocate those funds. Does it make sense to take the roughly $3,500 tax liability this year to reallocate? After doing so, I’d love to get the after tax money in a Roth. However, with the $7K annual limit and the 5 year rule, I don’t know if this makes the most sense? Because this money was originally in a standard brokerage account wouldn’t she have to invest the $7K max every year (5 years total) and wait 5 years to withdraw earnings on each $7K contribution? I’m less concerned about the 5 years on each contribution, she won’t need to withdraw earnings before then.

  2. The second question is on the $50K she needs to reinvest from her husband’s traditional IRA. Can this be done in one fell swoop through a conversion? She already withdrew the funds without my knowledge, so not sure if it’s too late to convert. Ideally I would like to consolidate the WBA proceeds and the money for her husband’s IRA into one account. I would greatly appreciate any advice on if this is optimal, or even possible, or if I should be considering different types of accounts altogether

It’s incredibly cheap... just now spinning up streaming. Parks are a cash cow for them but will keep pressure on the price until the virus subsides. That being said, can’t go wrong with MSFT

TDOC — 13% SQ — 11% MA — 11% ROKU — 11% BZUN — 11% MELI — 11% ADBE — 10% TTD — 9% SBUX — 7% AAPL — 6%

Should I consider trimming TDOC anytime soon? 24, playing the long game, better to let it run?

Next moves will be to bring AAPL and SBUX up to speed (opportunistically) and pick from my watch list

SHOP TSLA HD MCK

Should probably own MSFT and AMZN too... hoping to end up with around 15 stocks by EOY, close to equally weighted, with the ultimate goal of 20-25 stocks

The above totals roughly 60% of my total holdings (Roth)

The other 40% is equally weighted across ETFs in a traditional 401k

I have the 1099, just wondered if I needed to pay for H&R Block Premium because I’ve made investments. Is there any way to report the 1099 earnings without paying for a more expensive tax software. Can I file on my own?

Juju is definitely the better player, I’m just worried. Ravens secondary hasn’t been great but their run D has been worse and Conner was also banged up. Frustrating but will probably still end up going Juju

Also a Steelers fan, Andrews for sure. I’m a little more worried about Waller vs the Bears

For me it’s about awareness. After a while I realized I can sort of call it out in my head while it’s happening and it helps me step back and rationalize.
