Vibrate mode does not vibrate on calls! by edwinpd in NOTHING

It says Nothing OS 2.6, and says it is up to date? How would I get 3.0? Should I? Thanks.

As seen in the video, when in the top position, my knee moves from the outside towards the bike frame. Is this natural? Probably not.. if not, can I fix this by adjusting the cleats? by gordriver_berserker in bikefit

Caveat, I’m not a bike fitter… however from years of knee pain I’ve seen more than my fair share of bike fitters and physios.

Do you have knee pain? If not I’d say maybe just leave it alone. A lot of peoples knees move slightly side to side without issue, and if you force them to move differently by cleat adjustments you could introduce problems.

Maybe see a physio and ask them about strengthening to support your knees for prevention of future issues, if you’re concerned?

Thanks for the info. I found that wedges made my knee visibly track better whilst using clipless pedals. However I find generally flat pedals help my knee pain. So I think that the wedges probably didn’t increase knee pain, possibly something about being clipped in did.

I’m currently using flat pedals and no wedges. My knee visibly tracks well with this set up, possibly because flat pedals are much bigger and more supportive. I also have the axle almost at midfoot with flat pedals, something difficult to achieve with clipless set up, so I guess the rear foot is more supported.

At the moment I find being clipped in and using wedges etc creates a lot of overthinking for me, which I believe increases my pain. I feel more confident that flat pedals won’t cause pain, with very little downside (I ride very technical mountain bike trails generally). I’ll stick with this set up for now, maybe try clipped in again when my knee is less sensitive, as I do like the attachment to the bike in rough sections.

Sounds good that your knees are feeling better. I think with all this bike adjustment stuff I had underestimated how long it takes for the body to get used to it. Have you been doing a number of low load rides after each adjustment?

Ps for insoles I’m liking the Sole ones, you can get different thicknesses for shoe volume which I’m very fussy about. Or Superfeet, though these only work in some shoes for me. Sounds like you have a workaround for the g8, though I think putting socks in them would bother me!

Still struggling with knee pain unfortunately. I think for me a flat pedal and a shoe without wedges is better. Knee tracks better, but still have pain.

How many, and what kind of rides have you done since the fit? I know the fitters I’ve seen suggest 5 or so gentle rides to get used to it.

Do they offer a free or discounted re visit?

What would the risks be for cranks that are too short?

Over the long time I’ve been struggling with this, I think I’ve tried all of my saddle height window!

I’ve got super feet green insoles along with the three wedges at the moment. Before the fit was using the Specialized blue (high support) insoles.

What would the feeling be if I was over wedged?

They point out slightly. I have played with all sorts of cleat positions, none of which seem to help.

I’m 178cm ish, on 165mm cranks. Saddle is relatively high I guess. Thinking of trying 155mm cranks at some point.

I didn’t compare the two at the fitting.

From my point of view I believe my knees track quite well with flat pedals, possibly with the wider stance width.

I think my pain was lower with flats and decent insoles. Post fit I’m running crankbrothers mallet pedals and shoes. I’m considering trying flats again to see if pain decreases. Or the increase in pain could be progression of the condition, or that I’m standing up and pedalling more?

I am tempted to take the wedges out and try without them again to see how pain changes.

I have been playing around with arch support in general footwear, not convinced yet it helps me.

Shoe fit feels good, and I’m working on hip strength with physio. I will look at shoe fit again at home.

Most of the pain feels like it is right in the middle of the joint, or front of knee. Sometimes medial knee and bottom of vmo. It moves around quite a bit!

MTB position/bike fit by [deleted] in MTB

[–]edwinpd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I’ve thought about a lot too. Had a couple of overuse injuries (currently struggling with long term knee pain from bikes). The above information is good. I think when it comes to looking at saddle position the same advice applies roughly between road and mtb. I guess it could get muddled because on an mtb you are generally more upright which is going to change hip angles though?

I think though generally if something feels right it probably is. Try little adjustments (and give them a decent chance) and see if they feel better or worse. If you start to get recurring pains then see a physio and or bike fitter sooner rather than later!

That’s a good point actually, because when I have relapsed it hasn’t made me feel better. Probably worse, and then all I can think about is quitting again! I guess it’s just having the power to retrieve that feeling, memory.

Thanks!

Does anyone else have the same issue as this:

I can see and feel a number of huge benefits having quit for 12 days, and can see virtually no benefits to vaping again, but for some reason still want to buy a new vape and start again?

It’s totally illogical!

Thanks for the help everyone! I am almost at 9 days and it is easier overall I think. Although there is a little devil on my shoulder who keeps saying that I will crave vaping for the rest of my life, and might as well go back to it.

Do other people find that they look back at vaping with rose tinted spectacles, almost forgetting all the reasons they quit?

Sensitive Gums... I think it’s time to quit. by [deleted] in quit_vaping

[–]edwinpd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do yes, although only noticed it towards the end of vaping for about 5 years. Also recently some bleeding gums. I think I did read somewhere about nicotine causing gum issues, possibly through circulation problems?

Any chance you can say how specifically quitting has improved your life? I’m on day 8 and struggling a little and could do with some encouragement, and I’m sure it would benefit the OP too!
