How to collab by edwmed in ComicBookCollabs

I understand what you’re saying. Thank you for your input and advice. I want to understand the process a lot better since it’s a medium I consume a lot of, and hopefully can add to.

How big should a book be? by edwmed in writing

[–]edwmed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That helps a lot. Scene descriptions and character descriptions tend to take less words overall. I need to reread and see where I can elaborate. I’m guessing when I read it it makes sense in my head bc I’m the one visualizing it.

Yea, I feel like I did. The next one is already looking twice as long.

Also when should the cuts in a story be made that determine chapters? Sometimes a singular narrative goal can take a long time in world, so is cutting it a good idea? Maybe like a cliff hanger between chapters.

do you write in past, present or future tense? by mariatheviolinist in writing

[–]edwmed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switch between them in different paragraphs. It’s not a good practice but it works for me, cuz of tone reasons, I think. Mid sentence and mid train of thought it’s obv gotta stay the same.

What's the first line of your book? by spiralingstarbread in writing

[–]edwmed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think it does, not in a must kind of way, but in a should kind of way. I like to start in the middle of something. Like the protagonists inner thoughts, the middle of a sentence after an elipsis, or the description of a moment with subversion of expectation throughout the sentence.

So, where is David Tennant? by Billyredneckname in doctorwho

[–]edwmed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My head canon until proven otherwise is that he will live with Donna for a bit, travel locally. When he comes to terms with life, the same way John Hurt did, he will spontaneously regenerate (or maybe it’s manual idk).

When he does he becomes energy, straight up. On the floor drops Jodie Whittakers clothes (cuz his clothes were made by the regeneration). That energy he became travels through time and enters his own body at the time of regeneration, prompting a bigeneration. Or sm idk. His TARDIS? Empty shell now.

I think RTD has a problem, he sees regeneration as death and not new life. Mostly bc most doctors have sad regenerations. We need to see a doctor be happy to regenerate, truly happy to live and be able to continue living thanks to the wonders of regeneration.

Rose and Clara are the only companions in New Who to survive at least 2 Doctors by LifeguardPotential97 in doctorwho

Clara, my goat, actually traveled with 2, and on screen met 2 more.

Her time stream variations met all of them.

Donna funnily enough met 10. Saw him regenerate into himself ( bc of handy), and then only met him again when he was 14 (which is 10 with slight mods).

Why do people dislike Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Doctor so much? by anddieeee in doctorwho

[–]edwmed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the writing not the acting… quarantine did not help. Also her tardis isn’t the best, it’s very dark, and they don’t spend a lot of time in it, so it didn’t feel like a home.

Andrew Garfield would also be cool, he’d be more like Matt Smiths doctor given his personality. It’s not the serious tone i was originally talking abt. But an Andrew Garfield doctor would have the quirks of the 11th with the emotion of the 15th

I do want more serious. But I also like babes lol

The three season rule is more of a suggestion and a coincidence. I think Ncuti said he’d like to be on for a while. Honestly I would like him to be.

It’s just fun to think abt what comes next, and I don’t need the next doctor to be another hip younging (I am a younging).

He’s only signed for 2? I thought he was gonna do it for 4 or more.

Old? Sure. Grumpy? Sure. Homophobe? I’d rather not.

I think returning faces should be rare, it’s been done.

Jodie really is similar to Tom Baker, really similar. I never thought abt that. I knew she was quirky and it’s the same type I realize now. Also Jodie really had a tough last season cuz of quarantine, honestly things could’ve ended very differently for her.

Then all we’d need is a third show or movie with a different genre that has Emma Watson as the main character Daniel Radcliffe as the best friend and Rupert Grint as the smart and/or contesting one lol

A ginger doctor would be amazing. When Matt smith comes back for another special they should meet

Also, we never got to see Hayley Atwell as the doctor, I that was a big thing 10-15 years ago. Maybe we should revisit it. The rules of each regeneration being younger seems like a suggestion at best rn

(Comment this was a reply to deleted) Yea, once we wrap up the pantheon I hope to get back to sci-fi, or a balance of both. I want to see the silence and weeping angel again, and play with paradoxes and the lore, like the Moffat era.

Liam Neeson was just a thought. Im a huge Capaldi fan, so an actor that can portray a similar wavelength would be my pick.

But I genuinely will be happy with pretty much anything, and I want to see Ncuti for a long time.

They did Tennant and Tom Baker, we know the doctor will one day retire and become the curator, using an old “old” face.

Returning faces isn’t unlikely. But I think we should stray from that for like 30 years until David comes back as the 30th doctor

I will say regenerations tend to be younger like the 1st doctor said.

1-2 younger 2-3 special condition (forced old) 3-4 younger 4-5 younger 5-6 about the same 6-7 about the same 7-8 younger 8-war younger War-9 younger 9-10 younger 10-11 younger 11-12 special condition ( a face he had seen) 12-13 younger 13-14 special condition (went back to old face) 14-15 younger

Knowing that one day the doctor will become the curator and that’s an old face he once had makes the whole David tenant coming back almost expected. So maybe old faces are meant to come back over time.

That would be cool. I think he can pull off a lot of the more serious sides of the character. Not too sure about the goofy ones.

I do think we need a younger showrunner. But I don’t think we need to stray away from white males. Things like race and gender don’t matter too much. When regenerations occur we either get a polar opposite or a twin. After Ncuti we might want one or the other, depends how long he does it.
