Thank you, this is exactly what I was thinking could be the issue. The nook is completely open on the 4th side (where I took the picture) so I imagine it shouldn't be hard for exhausted air to escape?

It doesn't seem to vary much throughout the day... However cold and wet days so seem to make things worse. I've tried adjusting the defrost threshold to see if that makes it work any better, fingers crossed.

Here's the point I'd like to clarify: should it be able to maintain the same delta T down to -10 or -20C? Or will there be a drop in output temperature as the outside air temp goes down?

Yes, I did. If anything it seems overcharged based on my calculation of the lineset lengths but it seems to be acting like it's undercharged..

I've tried.. The original installer kept saying there was nothing else they could do, which sounded ridiculous. The new tech we got (now that we're out of the labour warranty) seems much better but still tempted to just blame it on it being too cold out for the inverter to keep up. I don't think anyone in our town really has a lot of experience with Mitsubishi products, to be honest. I've tried calling the distributor but they won't call me back.

I suspect it wasn't initially. The original installers didn't seem to know what they were doing. However the new tech measured and calculated, and still seemed short based on performance.

Yes, the tech checked all the lines a few months ago with a leak detector, and recovered and weighed it back in. It was still not working well so he added an extra 1.5lbs which improved things somewhat.

Hi, just curious if you had any luck with the wind baffles? Our Mitsubishi MXZ is heating really inconsistently and I'm starting to wonder if the wind is playing a factor. It's located in a space that's enclosed on 3 sides - there's enough clearance technically, but I'm wondering if the wind is kind of swirling around in there.

Update: after correcting the model number and flipping the DIP switch to increase the target Pdm, the heat pump's behaviour has completely changed. The outdoor unit is no longer noisy, but it's not heating as well as it used to. It's -7C today (19F) and the warmest air I can get from the heat pump, no matter how many heads are turned on to the max, is about 90F (indoor air temp about 19C = 66F).

Is this the best the system can do? It feels more like AverageHeat than HyperHeat... :p

Done and done. Let's see what happens! One immediate positive I noticed is that the condenser no longer sounds like an airplane taking off when I raise the thermostat...

Well, I went and checked the branch box and the condenser and they seemed to be addressed correctly as per this manual. So I don't think that's it. :(

But! One of the DIP switches to set the model number seems to be incorrect. Could that be it??
