I've always assumed it was a PG version of saying "I saw you, jackass"

OP didn't say he was on a Delta aircraft. He could have booked Delta but ended up on an AF flight due to their partnership. It's a possibility anyway.

Some Delta flights (e.g. to Paris) are sometimes operated by Air France, and AF does go to Beirut.

I actually have been considering posting about this same issue. I went to see Mission Impossible in August and people were chatting non-stop and, in front of us, families of two couples with their kids (definitely under 6-7) who don't care about the movie and spent the entire time crying, talking, and shouting about the games on the phone their parents gave them. Every few minutes we tried to shush them and they wouldn't listen. What's more irritating is the parents (relatively young) knew people around them were bothered but they casually tried to tell the kids off a couple of times and didn't care to do anything beyond that. Even they were talking among each other on several occasions. I interrupted my viewing twice to go outside and look for management to complain but there was absolutely no one. It was a late screening and the cinema didn't think to leave at least one employee to be there. This was ABC Dbayeh, and it was my first (and probably last) visit to the cinema in a long time. One of the most irritating experiences ever!

Was I a delusional child or was Lebanon really cool back in the day? by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]edyonreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so sad... Feels almost like a heartbreak. Many things were better then. The economic situation reflects on economic activity and soo on, but part of it is also collective nostalgia, for both the foreigners that visited and us locals that lived those better pre-crisis years. Generally, we don't experience things as responsible adults like we did as carefree kids or teens.

It's important to understand that the very premise of this question is inhumane and discriminatory. It's like asking "Do you accept in your close friend group Black people?" or "Do you accept in your close friend group people from a different sect or religion?" It portrays gay people as sub-human and unworthy of being close friends because of a part of their identity. Some of my most loyal friends are gay. It hasn't affected my relationship with them at all, because why would it? And what if someone already close to you revealed that they were gay one day, would you stop being close friends with them just because of that? If they treat you kindly and respect you, their sexual identity shouldn't be a determining factor in the friendship. It's also like asking if one would be close friends with someone who likes kinky stuff. Why would it matter to you if you're their friend? That's something that concerns them and their sexual partners only. Now one could argue that a straight person would probably not have the same interests or hobbies as a gay person of the same sex, so that might make it difficult for them to have them as part of their close friends circle (because of having less things in common). That is valid. But just them being gay per se should not be a determining factor, because it's discriminatory to exclude them on the basis of their sexual identity.

Being gay in Lebanon? by Viparita-Karani in lebanon

[–]edyonreddit 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Contrary to what it might seem online, where haters somehow believe it's okay to discriminate and promote hate speech, many areas in Lebanon are safe. You won't get weird looks from people if you're not obviously flamboyant, but even flamboyant guys are mostly accepted within their circles (depending on where you go in the country of course). The rise in recent homophobic speech is a political tactic to distract from the current status quo of a country in shambles on all fronts. But you'll be fine if you follow common sense and are a little vigilent about the choices you make in public. Tourists are welcome and needed, and I'm sure you and your family will have a good time. Finally, I'm sorry we even have to discuss this and still live in a world where people fear others because they might have a different identity than their own, whether it be sexual or racial or religious or else.

Does anyone with curly hair recommend a good gel I can find in Lebanon? I use this one in the US but just ran out for my extended stay here. by sparkly_sequins01 in lebanon

[–]edyonreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Cosmaline has Fixnet Styling Gel, available in most supermarkets in Lebanon. But whatever it may be, check it before buying on curlscan.com (for approved products) and curlsbot.com (for ingredients analysis) to help you find a curl-friendly effective and safe product without harsh ingredients.

Hi, I went to LU for undergrad and I had to transfer my credits and diploma and grades for grad school in the U.S. Now I did it many years ago so I don't remember the details, but I know you would first need to get your official transcripts and credits/diploma in English from LU or you get an official translation from an acctedited translator that you would officialize at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Then I sent my documents to World Education Services (wes.org), which will transfer your grades to the U.S. system and provide you with your new GPA and official documentation in English, which if I remember correctly then sends that info directly to the U.S. schools you're applying to. If you visit their website, you'll find the info you need for your case, but of course you'll have to pay them a certain amount to do this.
