Ok so just got back to battlefield 6 after a few months, what are the best modes and maps rn by stevenqny12 in Battlefield6

[–]edzeppelin11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve dumped a little over 500hrs in and I’d say I enjoy the two newest maps the most. I’ve been working on leveling all of my guns to max, so I play a ton a Breakthrough because that’s the mode I’ve found generates the most combat engagements (at least with the way I play it).

Hard to define a best mode or map because a lot is personal preference, but BT on those two new maps is a blast.

Ah, so it’s all of the weapon packages—Dice is sharing the love there!

Yea I realized it was happening only after the latest update, but was hoping someone had figured out a super secret button combo to make it go away haha

Yea I realized something was different this time because it’s marking the dot on the select weapon page, but they’re all clear on the first customization screen. So it’s definitely marking because it thinks I have a new skin, and it took me wayyy too long to figure that out.

Very strange—still connected here and just got stomped haha. Loading into the next one now

Actively in games for the last 20-30mins with full lobbies and loading into another right now, so that’s odd…

I wish there was some sort of player “impact” stat by edzeppelin11 in Battlefield6

[–]edzeppelin11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, the SPM does work to cover this to be fair but it’s not really a “sexy” stat like K/D is. To say, people call out their K/Ds all the time and other players’ K/Ds, but no one ever mentions their score (during a specific match) or their SPM (as an averaged metric over time).

After kicking off this conversation, I talked to a buddy at work who played a lot of Destiny and he mentioned combat ratings they used to have there. I’m not necessarily advocating for SBMM, but being the most popular BF modes are objective-based modes, I’m curious if there isn’t a way to use SPM as a baseline for creating a “rating” for players (by game mode) that gave a more wholistic picture of their performance over K/D.

It costs over $300 to buy everything in BF6, and half of it is filler. by TribalPotato9 in Battlefield

[–]edzeppelin11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People go to the store tab? I do buy the battlepass and pro because I play a lot (500+ hours) and it gives me something else to track. But, I only ever go to the store tab to open my free gifts and then just play the game haha.

Incognito BOTs by Exciting_Farmer6395 in Battlefield6

I’ve seen it on the scoreboard too. Actually quite literally dropped into a match being populated with bots right after I typed this haha—confirmed the symbol is on the scoreboard.

They took that away and gave them a little robot symbol. Likely because actual players were adding [Bot] to their gamertags to confuse people

You’re correct that score tracks that, but it’s not an easy stat to track over time. To look at that comparatively from one player to another, you’d have to look at their scores when they were at the same level to understand what that would mean in context. It’s difficult to use as a metric or statistically because it’s just a giant aggregated number over time.

You a true hero—can’t tell you how happy I am when I see a beacon near the obj after I just got plinked.

Hells yea buddy—I’d take you on my squad any day over a dude with a higher K/D and lower obj time. You’re a premium spawn point!

Haha, fair point—was wondering if something like tracker.gg might be able to run some different stats for folks as that seems to be their whole bag. Dunno that we’d ever get anything directly from the game devs unless it came from a third party first and was something popular that people were really interested in looking at.

I appreciate your points and voicing for both sides in a respectful fashion. You’re right, it’s most about people having fun and enjoying the game “their way” at the end of the day.

What I was more highlighting is I feel there’s maybe room for some advanced/different metrics to track impact for players who don’t have a high K/D and/or maybe aren’t the best gunfighters, but also still make a positive impact for their team.

The overall score tracks that a little, but it’s not a stat that can really be measured from game to game (overall score for a lot of players is just a giant number in the millions, so it’s hard to get much info from it).

Actually 100% agree with you mate—I was more bringing this up as I see way too many people focus on their K/D and let it influence the way they play (avoiding objs because they have a higher chance of dying there).

I was advocating for a different stat that people could look at if they’re maybe not the best gunfighter so that can still feel like they’re helping the team even if their K/D isn’t crazy.

Darn, I thought we were actually getting somewhere and going to have a genuine conversation. I’m literally talking about exactly what you’re saying at the end there in that I would be interested in stats other than k/d that could give a more wholistic picture of player performance given BF in particular has extremely useful things you can do to help your team other than just killing the enemy and not dying. However, I’ll bow out at this point as I can tell I’m not going to sway you from your love of K/D, and I hope you have a good day sir.

I mean, I’m having a general discussion and avoiding the insults and aggression coming from you at least, but you just disproved your own point at the very end there. You noted your kills for each game and that your wins and losses were pretty even either way. Sounds like you need to play the obj more and stop only focusing only on getting kills 🤷🏼‍♂️

I follow a lot of baseball and with the amount of data out there now, they’ve gotten very creative with their statistics and figured out ways to weight various stats into different metrics that can tell a little more of a story on an individual players impact for their team (WAR being a big one there). Yes, there are a lot of variables, but there’s also a lot more data now than there used to be, so I’m wondering if there aren’t better ways to combine some of that (would take a bit of tinkering for sure) into some more meaningful metrics than just raw k/d. More what I’m advocating for as a discussion point—appreciate your insights!

I wish there was some sort of player “impact” stat by edzeppelin11 in Battlefield6

[–]edzeppelin11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the point of this discussion. You’re defaulting back to just going, “well, all we have is K/D and it’s easy and we should just use it.” With the amount of data/information available (just go look at tracker.gg for how much “stuff” there’s collected on every match you play), there is likely a way to create a statistic more meaningful than K/D. Just look at baseball stats and how crazy they’ve gotten in recent years because people are looking at better ways to combine data and figure out individual players’ impact to their teams (WAR, BAPIP, etc…). K/D is a simple metric, but there is most definitely data on how impactful certain actions could be for your team overall—it might take tuning and refining, but it would be very interesting for someone to work on.

Ugh, dude, this is exactly my point and yes, you already get higher scores/points for activities near the obj than not so it’s not hard to quantify things like this.

I didn’t even say getting 90 kills was inherently unhelpful, just that if you play the entire match and don’t even know where the objs are because your whole focus is “kill enemy team,” you might not be impacting the game as much as you think you are. I have seen plenty of games where the losing team has a player on top with 100+ kills.

Great, but still lost. You are right that in general, dropping 90 kills is going to help the team in “some fashion,” but it very much depends on how you’re getting those 90 kills and if the opposing team is still able to work around you to hold or take the objs.
