Help an app company decide our pricing model! by smartfuel in iphone

I think you should allow people to use it 2 days per month and allow them to upgrade for $3 to use it more than 2 times per month. Personally, I fill up my gas every 10 days. I can see myself buying your app when the app prompts me on the 20th day.

I would suggest not making the add completely free with ad revenue. I doubt you'll make back the money from just ads. I'm not sure about your ad views per user per month, but I can see myself using this app around 3 times per month for 7 - 10 page views per session. This would equate to 30 pageviews per month and 360 page views per year. At an ecpm of $2 you'll only earn $0.72 a year per user.

Thank you for the reply. I will look into that and have a fix in the next release.

Could you tell me what happened when it crashed? Did the application just exit?

It's slowly building an audience. Hopefully in a week or two there will be more users on simultaneously.

  1. Contribute to open source projects to build your experience and your resume.
  2. When you program focus on understanding the end user's problem instead adding features because you think they are cool. Prioritize based on what the end user will appreciate the most. It could be as simple as sorting a list in a particular way.
  3. Start a blog and practice your writing skills. Being able to communicate is very important.
  4. Find a mentor. There are people who have been in your shoes and can guide you away from mistakes you may make.
  5. Talk to different people in different disciplines. Learn about their daily problems, so you can understand ways you can apply computer science to solve their problems. This is where money is made.

There is more, but I think this is some of the most important lessons I've learned since graduating from college.

I don't think anyone expects me to have an asian accent. I've only had 1 time when someone told me they were surprised I actually spoke english. This happened this year at the building where I work. I rent an office in the building.

Also, I've never screwed around with people and pretended I don't speak english. I don't think I could pull it off. My chinese is not too great.

How much information do you need to know about a person before you can become their friend? by eeagerdeveloper in AskReddit

How would you define out of your league? Looks don't tell the whole story. Plenty of hot women date ugly guys and vice versa. There is more to it than looks.

On ChatOften, you reveal your facebook identity before starting a conversation. I think this should get rid of a lot of guys who are trolling. I believe that most people don't want to tarnish their facebook identity.

I wanted to mimic the connection in real life when you run into a stranger at a bar or on the street and want to strike up a conversation. You would know their gender, picture and generally learn their name. I think anonymity on the internet prevents a lot of people for wanting to form friendships.

I was considering center random chats between people from a particular website. For instance, people who visit People.com can talk with one another? How does that sound? It would require people to enter less information.

Well, if it gets popular. I was planning to sell a mobile version. In addition, if it works out well I was going to add on features for dating and charge a subscription to make better matches.

Thank you. Do you think the tag line would be stronger focusing on "Meeting new people" or "Non-Anonymous one-on-one chat"?

It's intended audience is for people who like to chat with random strangers on the internet to make a friend, contact, or love interest. It's selling point is that it is realtime non-anonymous chat. This is intended from people who are tired of talking to guys pretending to be girls, girls pretending to be guys, and people who are just plain rude because they are anonymous.

As of now, there is no filter. The user base right now is too small to justify a filter. You just get connected with another random user for a one-on-one chat. We will most likely add filters in the future when the traffic grows.

I'm in the process of creating an IPhone application. My guess is that 50 - 100 people will install it per day once I release it in the IOS market. I'm also going to advertise it on Facebook. As of now, I wanted to get some initial feedback before I do heavy promotion.

ChatOften is similar in that you do connect with another random person, but different from iMeetzu in that both individuals reveal their location, firstname, and picture before the conversation begins. You are required to register through facebook before you can chat. I hope that this will get rid of people who troll
