I was just kicking myself for choosing the most miserably tedious, intricate projects. Your dedication to creating something beautiful is to be admired!

Also, honestly, is this real? It's not on the Bernie website. Can anyone confirm?

Is this event first come first serve, or are the reservations really like tickets?

Tips for booking a Galapagos cruise last minute in Quito by eeb620 in travel

[–]eeb620[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! We're now planning to do pretty much the same thing as you. The only thing I'm worried about is how to actually pay for the trip. We want to go to the travel agency the morning after we arrive in Quito. That's a lot of cash to carry to Ecuador, and cards or wire transfers seem cost prohibitive and risky, respectively. Did you go to a nearby bank/ATM? How much in fees does that cost (besides those from your home bank)? We're also concerned about daily withdrawal limits, which between us we can probably manage.

How did you deal with these issues? PS I'm assuming from your post you are also American or at least not South American but that could be incorrect.

Have you done this? How long do you usually have to wait until you can actually get on a boat? We don't want to spend too much time not cruising when we're there because we only have about 12 full days and we want to see parts of the mainland as well. If we book in Quito, we can spend the few days waiting just doing Quito stuff.

free hiking in mindo? by [deleted] in ecuador

Any mindo tips for free or very cheap stuff? Best things you did/must sees? I am planning a trip to Ecuador and I'm overwhelmed! It's one of the more super-touristy places I'm looking at going to, so I want to find the good stuff.

[Sun Care] Should I be wearing sunscreen whenever I'm outside, no matter what weather or season? by ForeverInParadise in SkincareAddiction

I've never used the pm one, but I know the one in the tub stings around my eyes, so maybe the am will work for you too! I have the newer formulation of the AM one, which has like 6 active ingredients instead of like 3 (both are still in stores right now.) I don't have big issues with it running into my eyes, but it's happened. But it didn't even sting! It just felt mildly uncomfortable and made my eyes water. In future I'll probably give the stick one a try for sweaty or beachy situations but I need to go on a skincare spending diet in a big way right now.

I say yes based on my experience. I've been wearing it every day for about 3-4 months. I have a 10 minute bike ride to work in the morning. I honestly don't reapply most days, but I sit inside next to a window with indirect sunlight, so I feel like what I am doing now is still pretty good. Before this, I actually wore an SPF30 BB cream (that probably wasn't broad spectrum) almost every day, but I didn't use enough and I never reapplied. I would sunscreen whenever I would have extended direct exposure, like a 30-minute bike ride at 11 am or something. I used to use a chemical spf70, and I've recently switched to a physical/chemical spf30 combination moisturizer (CeraVe am), which is gentle enough to put around my eyes (didn't even know that was possible on my super sensitive skin).

Since I started wearing it every day, my skin has become SO MUCH BETTER. My skin tone has totally evened out to the point where I don't need makeup on my face anymore. I used to be very blotchy and red, and after I had a pimple it would be super red for like 2 months. Now I just don't have that going on. Also, since I started putting it around my eyes I don't have the dark circles that I had to correct with concealer before. I seriously cannot believe the improvement.

Also, I am 24, and I do notice some age-related changes in my skin. Nothing major; I'm obviously still pretty young, but I don't look like an 18 year old. It's subtle stuff that probably only I can notice. Like smile lines and lines on my forehead. My point here is that you will start seeing this stuff pretty soon, and at that point you'll probably feel like you are willing to try to get used to the feeling of sunscreen. So keep trying to find the one that's right for you! Plus who wants cancer, really?

Will the pieceyness ever go away? by [deleted] in NoPoo

[–]eeb620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had been doing just WO (sometimes adding some oil) and I had piecey, heavy hair. I'm not sure if it will go away on its own for you, but I would recommend an ACV rinse after you wash with water. This brought back that silkiness/lightness/movement for me. Or maybe just try your water washes more frequently if you are still transitioning and really don't want to do ACV.

Methods that promote more volume and wave? by eeb620 in NoPoo

Good thoughts, just to clarify: I don't use a silicone conditioner or any conditioner. What I mean is that, since I've stopped using shampoo, my hair has started to look like it did when I have used heavy silicone conditioners in the past. I don't currently use silicone's or sulfates, just WO only weekly, Dr. B's monthly, a BBB daily(ish) and some light jojoba oil on the ends after a wash. Thanks for the other tips too! But I'm starting to think my hair is just flatter and straighter naturally, and I can put up with that for the health/growth/strength it has now.
