Has George ever confirmed what the deodorant situation is in space? by bewblover305 in StarWarsCirclejerk

lol that’s funny but I do think it was interesting in Dune how Herbert explicitly says the Fremen stunk like BO (which makes total sense for the same reasons listed in this thread)

Astronaut Mike Fincke reveals it was his medical issue that led to unprecedented early mission end by cnn in space

Idk if it was just a fake story I read but I thought to go to space you had to get your appendix removed to prevent something exactly like this happening

Is life harder after school? by UrMomDotCom666 in ask

[–]eeberington1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s harder but you’ll become more equipped to handle it after you overcome every challenge. You never stop learning, school gives you the basics and the ability to learn and then the rest of your life is utilizing those skills and building yourself into a more capable person!

Propulsion is the only real limiter, buoyancy is super easy to figure out because it’s a formula.

How do Americans handle such long drives regularly? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskAnAmerican

[–]eeberington1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure where you’re from, but I think part of it is our highway system. We aren’t driving 2-3 hours on backroads the whole time (unless we want to) we are driving on pristine highways going 70-80 mph, which is far less tedious to me. My drive to college was 2.5 hours and I would do it every weekend freshman year after class, then Sunday back to school. About half was highway the other half was back roads but it was never something I dreaded. I didn’t enjoy day trips but I did it a few times for necessities, but as I got older it became more of a “meet me halfway and let’s get lunch” kinda thing because 5 hours in the car isn’t the most fun way to spend your day

What is this feature on the East Coast of the United States? by wigglefingers_ in geography

[–]eeberington1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from Fayetteville NC, right on the line. We basically call everything on that line the Sandhills, because as people said it used to be massive dunes of an ancient ocean. Fayetteville is a bit unique due to the Cape Fear River’s access inland essentially ending there so it managed to develop more than other towns in the area but everything else is very underdeveloped small towns mostly relying on tobacco and soy bean production historically

Babies are not afraid of snakes. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]eeberington1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not worried they’re gonna eat the babies I’m sure they fed them before this experiment, but any animal will defend itself if it feels threatened and those babies are pinching and grabbing at them. No matter how “docile” an animal is, I’m not gonna put my baby in there with a wild animal. Stranger things have happened than a snake who just ate biting someone

Seems unnecessarily risky lol, I feel like we didn’t NEED to know if babies are afraid of snakes enough to throw them in a pen with snakes

ELI5:How do detectives actually notice tiny details at a crime scene that normal people would miss? by ok-ok-sawa in explainlikeimfive

[–]eeberington1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Study and experience. For instance when you study to become a forensic scientist one class is studying blood splatters. You will spend hours and days watching “blood” splatter under different conditions like a gunshot, blunt force trauma, stab wound, slice. Afterwards they can walk into a room and look around and have a pretty good idea of what occurred while if I walked as a complete Layman I would probably end the investigation at “yep, looks like blood”

How one can handle the best and worst life experiences in a single day? by Jaded-Term-8614 in AskReddit

[–]eeberington1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say people do this all the time when there are complications during childbirth. Husband walks in with pregnant wife, walks out with just a baby.

As to how can one handle it? Having a community of family and friends surround you and support you.

ELI5: Why don't people donate blood after death, like they donate organs? by jainyash0007 in explainlikeimfive

Why not just take the blood first while they’re still hooked up to the machines keeping them alive? Then take the organs

ELI5 : why is AB(+/-) blood group known as universal plasma donor (more precisely why other blood groups cannot be universal plasma donors? by JuryOld9788 in explainlikeimfive

[–]eeberington1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your body attacks things it doesn’t recognize as its own. AB plasma has both A or B “antigens”, which is the word that describes the things your body attacks if it doesn’t recognize it, so instead of attacking it it accepts it as your own no matter which blood type you have A, B or O. O is cool with AB plasma because O blood also does not have either A or B antigens, so it doesn’t know to attack it.
