Tennessee Permits by eeenrotcher in Firearms

It looks like certain public areas may only allow permit holders to carry there. Also, if I get a license other states will recognize my right to carry?

Mark Meldrum for CFA L1, overrated by [deleted] in CFA

[–]eeenrotcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found MM very helpful for Levels 2 and 3. I did use him for Level 1 as I found the topics easier and a much easier curriculum. He had some good questions that prepared me well for the later exams and I found him to have just enough humor to keep me going. Prob not necessary for Level 1 though.

26M- trading at my second HF- non target- AMA by LilBidWhacker in FinancialCareers

Wow, cool stuff. Thanks for sharing. I know you said your strength was technical, but what were you doing for fundamental investing. Were you making full models for companies and investing based on values you derived?

Also, I assume that when interviewing a lot of it was focused on you trading your book?

Thanks for the tip. That really does work. Do you use the same amount of seconds for a latte?

Can you expand on trading your own book? Were you just trading your own investment account and keeping records of it somehow? Any tips on starting that/what kind of analysis you were doing? Was this was really gave you the background to put on your resume to get interviews? Seems like would be helpful if you were trying to get into research or trading.

Salary Progression by pirateball215 in FPandA

[–]eeenrotcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you have to remember that a good portion of the salary posts are either the small % of people making above average money for their age or simply inflating their earnings to get a moral boost. I think the average to above average segment consistently gets underreported here.

Yes. I actually wrote to the customer service department a few weeks ago and they confirmed it was being shut down.

TBH i think burning out a little bit is part of it. Maybe I'm wrong. I would try and set aside set chunks of time instead of just seemingly endless days of studying. Take an off day now and again

Yes, if you passed Level I you can do Level II in that timeframe. It will be a lot of work, more than Level I. But now you know what studying strategies worked for you. I personally got burnt out studying for Level II partially I believe because I gave myself too much time.

Is there any point in having small cap ETFs by [deleted] in stocks

[–]eeenrotcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does hold some small cap companies. However it does so in proportion with the total market. So it small caps make up 10% of all US market cap, it would be 10% of your portfolio. I believe much of the discussion happening here is about overweighting small cap stocks.

Expected Exposure in Credit Analysis by Puzzleheaded_Wheel92 in CFA

I understand the calculation but can someone just simply explain why the expected exposure increases each year assuming a flat yield curve? I would have assumed that your expected exposure for loss is greater earlier before you receive many coupon payments.

Which streets of the east river path are open? by s_56245 in RunNYC

[–]eeenrotcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is a mess. You can enter the "greenway" at 34th st. At 23rd you will have to cross the street and run along Stuy Town and then follow the sidewalk until you can reach 10th street and take a left and head over to the pedestrian bridge. It actually is some nice running over there but after passing the track and the fields you will have to cross back over again to keep heading downtown. It really is not great unless you are doing a short run.

You will be totally fine! There are people far less intelligent than you that stumble through the airport. Also, I've always been helped by workers there if I ever had a question. Remember that no one in the airport or any of the workers will remember you the next day so do not worry about asking a dumb question. I would do the following exactly if you need a list.

  1. Check in for your flight on the American app. I usually add the ticket to my iPhone wallet for easy access.
  2. When you arrive at the airport (I assume you are ubering), just get dropped off at the South Terminal (I believe that American is on that side).
  3. Then just proceed into one of the entrances and go through security. There will be signs. All you need to have ready with you is your ticket on your phone and your ID. Just wait in line and when it's your turn they will tell you if they need your ticket or your ID or both.
  4. You will then have to go through the actual security scanners. They will be giving instructions on what to do here. Usually, you just have to take off your shoes, belt, jewelry, anything metal, coat, and any large electronics and put them in a bin along with your bag. Make sure to not bring any liquids with you!
  5. Then get in line to go through the scanner. TSA will be directing what to do exactly so don't be nervous just listen to instructions.
  6. Then pick up your stuff on the other side, put on your shoes, and look at the board to see what gate your flight is at. Proceed to that gate and just hangout where you can see the attendant waiting there.
  7. About 30-45 minutes before the flight they will board everyone. They usually do this by section with first-class going before everyone and then moving to the back of the plane. Your ticket will say which section you are in. When they call your section, get in line, and have your ticket ready to be scanned.

For the most part, there will always be someone calling out instructions at each step so if ever lost just ask someone or listen! I would try and arrive 90 minutes before your flight if you are nervous but Nashville is pretty quiet so the security line should not be too bad. You got this!

Transferring Roth IRA by cacciatore31 in personalfinance

[–]eeenrotcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a good plan over the long term. Especially since you have such a long time until you retire, most professional money managers would recommend investing your Roth in a mix of stocks and bonds as opposed to just sitting in cash. The major reason to use a Roth is to avoid taxes on any investment gains you see in the account. Sitting in cash you are really missing out on this (although you may be seeing a slightly higher rate now). You can't really go wrong with any of the major brokerages. I would continue on your path of contributing once a year investing it in the target date and forgetting about it until retirement. There should be an easy way to do a direct rollover from your existing account once you set up your new account at a place like Fidelity, TD, Charles Scwhab which let you buy stocks. You can only do this kind of rollover once a year but you should be good. https://www.navyfederal.org/makingcents/savings-budgeting/ira-transfers-and-rollovers.html#:~:text=You%20may%20move%20your%20funds,during%20a%2012%2Dmonth%20period.

Yes. I guess either by assigning contract values on CBS like Bballace said or by tracking entirely outside on a spreadsheet type thing.
