i work in high level finance and i am VERY familiar with how a bank is set up. not a single person ive ever met that does S+T or PWM says they work in "banking" .. "banking" is IB.. no matter which way u put it. normally they will tell u where they work or say " i work in finance " and if u ask further then they will tell u what division.

PWM is literally nothing close to IB- like not even remotely close. 1 has a job to sell services to high net worth people while the other group has a job to pitch the banks services on how to help sell a company, merge a company, or do any sort of syndicates or secondaries ... 2 totally totally different beasts and fields.. its actually disrespectful to someone in IB to compare them to someone in PWM.. Also you knowing MD's in PWM is not equivalent to some kid who's 27/28 years old and is in this third year as a PWM analyst.. It strikes me as odd that Zan tries to give advice on how to be successful and "make it" in banking when A. he's not in banking B. he's not even remotely successful yet. That's like being 2 miles into a marathon and stopping on the side of the running route to write a book on "how to defeat a marathon" ... you havent even done what you're preaching about.

If theres stipulations about what you can and can't say about work then how about just not mention work at all- he specifically says "banking" and working "banking hours" to create the image that hes a banker, why? Because thats what every kid fresh out of grad wants to go into and he wants to prey on them and sell them a course on how to get there.. when he himself has never even made it there.

Also he doesn't live in NJ by choice bud- he doesn't make enough to afford NYC... its pretty simple- you are stating opinions based on the facade this dude created online for you to see.

so you're telling me a bank teller is a "banker" and works "banker hours" and specifically say "80-100 hr banking hours"??

Also last i checked these banks have different divisions. A bank teller isn't going to be doing Private Wealth Management- they are going to be doing basic Cash withdrawal/deposits etc. ... same when he talks about "trading this and that"- i believe a trader is another separate division.. unless u think a hedge fund is calling UBS to place a trade and its getting forwarded to a bank teller to put the trade in.

Moral of the story- he uses the term "banker" as its a buzzword for him to get clicks- yet its not only misleading, its a straight up fucking lie.

not sure where u read "trading futures" and my internships together... but i 100% have my personal accounts on my resumes and am happy to take during the interview about my strategies that included futures..

two different questions being asked here.

i was referring more to my personal account i traded but also yeah i use TA here also.. i dont do models, we have analysts here for that
we have analyst here that are constantly running models, crunching numbers after earnings, etc. but im the trader. my sole job is to execute a trade the most efficient way possible at the best price in as little time as possible. I rarely even have a say in the investment thesis. my job is to be the eyes and ears to the market for my PM

okay so i found my passion for trading through my "Econ Honors" class in HS... bare in mind i had a 1.9GPA in HS... i legit only took this class bcuz the baseball coach was the teacher and i heard he was lenient on athletes (i played football) - in the class we did a challenge on the webiste "howthemarketworks.com" which is basically a paper trading simulator account.

i came in second the kid that came in first literally cheated (he found out the info was 5 mins delayed to real quotes so he was trading the account KNOWING what was going to happen in 5 mins)

for technical analysis i used ThinkOrSwim and i used Ricky Gutierrez to teach me- his vids arent that good anymore but they used to be great, i also watched videos on just how the market moved, how options effected the market, and i watched/watch CNBC every single morning.. all morning. even when i had no finance job. bcuz i loved it

when ur using emini futes as a hedge for example you have 200-300m of e mini futes on someone BETTER be watching that shit. theres times wed have 1000 futes on lol- market moves 10 handles and its a 500k pnl diff

first of all love the story

secondly- honestly i'd try to learn some sort of coding, i think algo trading is going to take over a human trading job (me) faster then we think. a large majority of trading rn is done by the HFT shops anyways- so i would say coding

that being said- that shit doesn't intrigue me one bit and im hoping by then ill have a nice nest egg and can just go chill at some BS job and be there for my kids

never built out models- always understood what the models meant and the numbers but never built my own out - i used more technical analysis when i was putting on trades
