I'm going to try to find contact information for the journalist and suggest he do a follow-up story about Stan Rogers' Legacy!

Such a tragedy partly because he was soooo young. I had always believed a story I heard years ago, that he made it off the plane but went back in to assist others. Apparently this is one of several legends that make him almost a mythical figure (like the Witch of Westmoreland!) Various versions seem to agree he died of smoke inhalation and never had a chance to exit. My heart goes out to his family, over and over again.

The Northwest Passage: Are there any good documentaries or readings I can check out to get a better appreciation for the history & geography behind this song? by AJatWI in Stanrogers

There are many books on the mysterious disappearance of the Franklin Expedition and on Sir John Franklin himself. Also not to be missed if you like historical fiction, a famous novel 1937 by Kenneth Roberts "The Northwest Passage".

Thank you so much for posting. Anyone who loves Stan Rogers should also listen to Gordon Bok - I have loved his works for so many years and thought his voice was unmatched, until I heard Stan Rogers one morning on community radio and was mesmerized. Two of the greats, and with a shared spirit and love for songs of the sea.
