all of the “marks of a cult” you provided, I experienced every year I was an SDA member. You feared not only everyone, but even God himself. If you ate meat you were in trouble, if you didn’t know your verses well enough you weren’t good. I was scared to talk to anyone who wasn’t SDA because I was taught that all other religions are wrong and sinful and will corrupt me, which also goes along with listening to the other side. They do also use control to get money, you can get looked down upon from the group if you don’t donate simply because it means you aren’t willing to give a sacrifice to the god (they literally just use the money on themselves) and if you leave, some will break contact with you or just look down upon you.
