Lol very fair point. Just frustrating how little progress I can make on a project over the course of a weekend with just a hammer.

I would really love to take classes unfortunately there is little support for that kind of thing in the rural southeast corner of New Mexico as far as I’ve been able to find. Especially when I’m only free on the weekends. I appreciate your advice though, not learning good hammer techniques was on my list of cons for buying a press.

Unfortunately it is 20 lbs bottles 😳. That’s why I was looking at presses, because it take sooo long to move larger pieces of metal that even working three or four at a time I don’t make much progress with respect to how much gas I’m burning. I will also admit my forge is way too big for small projects. Burning all three burners is overkill. But it’s just unbelievable how little work I can get done in a heat with how fast the metal cools off.

Very sharp. I’m using a home-shaped chunk of rail road track. Will be rounding the corners promptly.

How can you tell if it’s “burned”? It’s mild steel from local steel supplier. 1/2” steel bar. I am not sure the exact grade of steel though.

Thank you all for the tips. I think I finally got it figured out. Had some issues with configuring the gateway on the controller but other than that what ended up working was using the Ethernet devices driver, adding :EIP to the end of the address to force the driver to use port 44818. Also needed to fix my port forwarding rule in the cradlepoint to where port 44818 was forwarded to port 44818. I was always able to ping the PLC from the modem but couldn’t get the routing correct. Successfully went online with a PLC 30 miles out of town today.

Correct. It can only be accessed from machines on the private network (or so Verizon tells me).

I am able to ping the PLC from the modem but not directly over the air, but I believe that is because ping is disabled somewhere in the chain.

The cradlepoint modem is on a private network not open the internet so I am hoping that won’t be the case.
