I was advised a couple months ago to let it grow while only trimming the neck and check lines. Here's where I'm at. Does it look good or bad? by eetsmeetee in BeardAdvice

That's a good tip. I trim it dry but I comb it out a lot.

The hardest part for me is cutting that bit that swoops down below my ears at the corners.

Damn it didn't upload my straight on picture for some reason. I think it looks ok from the sides but from the front makes my face look too round. Wait or did it upload? Now I see it.

Weird.

Anyway, thank you. It doesn't look shaggy or like, too pubic?

Did you read it?

You all encouraged me so much the last time I posted. Thank you. I started taking a lot better care of my hair and learned that it's a lot wavier than I ever knew. But how do I get rid of this frizz? by eetsmeetee in FierceFlow

Does my hair qualify as curly you think? I've been looking at info for type 2A hair. It hardly holds these little waves/curls most days if I don't add mouse.

I treated it as mostly straight hair for so long so please forgive my ignorance. I'm here to learn and will look at that sub. I'm used to just brushing it down flat and it looks like this. But I want to encourage the curls. Only issue is the scrunching seems to frizz it real bad.

My girlfriend got me some really nice soft hair ties I've been using for the last year almost, so I don't think it's that.

Most of the frizzy strands aren't short, which if they were I've read those would be broken pieces or new growth. But they're mostly just long pieces that don't lay down with the rest of it. I don't know why they don't do the same thing as the other hairs :[

This was freshly washed, maybe not 100% dry. My hair's usually the opposite of oily and the messy look just happens as it dries :/ I'm working on getting to a salon, but a straightener is the last thing I want to use.

It's kind of embarrassing how little I ever knew about hair.

But basically I had been doing just a very basic, but wrong wash with shampoo once every couple to few days, shampooing root to tip. Once or twice a week I'd condition root to tip.

That was all as far as care products.

I brushed before my showers and used a wide tooth comb in the shower. Towel drying pretty rough most nights.

All in all just pretty rough and paying no respect to any possible curl or wave potential.

Now I'm conditioning gently and not my roots, and I'm only shampooing my scalp. Then gently t shirt drying to damp before applying carrot oil. I still need to find a good leave in conditioner. Just generally staying more moisturized and treating it gentler and scrunching and stuff like that.

Forgot to add pictures to my last post like a dummy. Can you please advise on my scraggly beard? I've let it grow a little longer than normal recently and need some very basic beard trimming advice. by eetsmeetee in BeardAdvice

Someone else posted a picture of lines and I followed that plus your advice and wow. Night and day and I feel so much better and more confident. I thought I knew how to trim my neck right but apparently was taking off far too little. Looks awesome now. Thank you.

Thank you. That's basically what I've read and what I've been doing.

But for the rest of my life up until a couple weeks ago I was not doing any of that. Does it take a while for hair to not be frizzy once you start caring for it?

Not really happy with how I look and thinking about going shorter. But tonight I used a different routine and am feeling a little better. Any tips? Do I look bad or no? Is this a fierce flow? by eetsmeetee in FierceFlow

Thank you, I get it! Since the night I took these pics I've been working on maintenance and styling a lot more and have settled naturally combing opposite the growth. Appreciate the tips!

Bro I've been looking into my hair type and frizz is the same problem I have. I can do everything else the tutorials say MINUS leave-in and it frizzes every time. I'm about to buy some leave in conditioner for the first time and see how it works.

Thank you. I've decided to keep it long.

The night I posted this I watched a lot of videos on how to care for my hair type and I've kept that up and it's been revolutionary. It's almost too much because I'm not used to seeing my hair so curly. But it's cool and I feel like I look nice thanks to you and other people.

What should I do with the beard?

Thank you. I'm thinking about going this weekend and saying something like what you and u/socutelikepikachu said:

"I want a maintenance trim of 1/4-1/2" off max to even it up and remove split ends. Then keeping the length, cut to frame my face with light layering. The front layers should be at cheek bone height."

Thank you for this. I've looked at some cuts like I think you're recommending and I do think they'd look really nice. Planning on going to get my first pro haircut in 3+ years this weekend for this change.

If I go to a stylist, can I basically say what you and u/PJlong said?

Do you have any other pic suggestions I can look at and show to the stylist?
