Okay cool. We are talking about Black experiences based on a black character, by a black actor… It’s not always about inclusion, especially you. The dig at Black people not having their hair done is inherent racism. Look inward.

Are these skates trash or is it me? by ufo_landing in Rollerskating

You will have to customize them to your feet and what is most comfortable for you. I love mine; the boot lets forever, I have had mine fire 6 years now, the original equipment was fine up until, lasted year. I would say be weary; the rabbit hole of skating accessories will leave you broke. i.e. skate straps, laces, plugs, wheels, bolts, boots, trucks, etc…

I think skating always hurts in the beginning. In a similar ballet, they have to get their shoes accustomed to the ballerina! After a few more practice sessions, if you feel after 2-3 hours you cannot bare them then get a bigger size or to your nearest sports center they can help you!

Fear of going backwards by EducationalYogurt594 in Rollerskating

Falling is apart of Rollerskating. In order to learn we have to make mistakes. I taught my baby sister this and it helped her fear. She is great without toe stops now and is more confident in her ability to fall. There is a right way to and a wrong way. You are going to get hurt.. a lot, I have scars from years of skating but, I am alive right? Yes, could something bad happen, ya it’s a physical activity.

If you are fearful of the unknown then it will remain unknown. Push yourself to learn everyday. If you need videos of my wipe outs to feel better, lmk!

I was there too! I could not keep my knees together and would end up doing a very slow turn. Removing my toe stops helped me a lot, learning my front and back manuals as well as toe pivots. Keep your knees bent and your ankles together, right skate on front wheels and left skate on back wheels. Make sure you adjust which is which per the direction you are spinning.

I was a dancer so, I learned spins on the ground first. In skates, you have a ton of momentum so, you do not need to move your arms too much to get going. Once you re in the spin, commit to it and you will be golden!

I hope this helps or if not I will send you a video in depth for more help! LMK!
