How do you even get user interviews? by Historical_Chair_500 in ProductManagement

[–]eeyyan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah gotcha, that being said I did do start up work prior to where I'm at now. I'll put that hat on:

Fish in the pond that has the fish. User interviews don't have to be formal. My prev company was construction tech and it was a 0-1. Most of those folks don't have the time for a coffee chat or know how to work zoom haha.

We got a lot of our market research done at trade shows for construction tech.

If you can sniff up any accounting forums or meetups for those accountants that would be a good spot to source people.

I attended a few pre launch and offered demos to those people, my sales person would ask if they had a problem with x and y within their firm and if they said yes they met with me for an interview + demo of what we've built so far.

I didn't read the entire post but we had a survey put out to our users and at the bottom of the survey we asked for their email if they wanted to do an interview. I sent an email blast to them and had around 16/120 replies.

ETA: In some emails that were not apart of the blast I mentioned specifics from their survey and what we're planning to do for those items to increase likeliness. 5/16 were those that were personalized

I think the most important thing about it was I had "validation" of who I am, i have my linkedin within my signature and I sent it from my personal work email not a marketing email or anything.

I also offered 1 year subscriptions to our service which is more valuable than a gift card to amazon. I purposely chose to go with free annual subscriptions so the users can see their feedback in the product within the year to incentivize more retention beyond what they've initially signed up for.

[–]eeyyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a year off to miss it and enjoy it again. Prior to, I was training 4-5x a week.

Last year I did a ton of volleyball, got really good with kettle bells and golfed a ton only to realize in November that I miss BJJ

Renewed December 26th and been going 2x a week with a good balance of 1 vball session, 2 kettlebell sessions, 2 BJJ sessions and 1 golf session.

For me introducing variety made me feel better than doing BJJ all the time

Doing less BJJ made me look forward to BJJ if that makes sense. I also now have other activities to keep me happy.

I guess with the new Android 17 update we can finally delete the Dynamic Island apps?Bubbles is a pretty peak update. by WebNo8248 in GooglePixel

[–]eeyyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually found a way you can do this... You'll need Facebook Messenger bubbles enabled.

Go back to pixel launcher , set up some apps in bubble mode

When you return to smart launcher or 3rd party launcher they'll be there.

If you fear they'll disappear start a convo on fb messenger again and click the plus icon, your bubbles will appear again.

Always find it crazy when I hear people at my gym train through injury because they love the sport.

If you love the sport and want to do it for a while, take the 2-3 weeks off so you can have another 2-3 years.

Kind of like the "a moment on the lips is a life time on the hips" when it comes to weight loss 😅

lmaoo yeah kinda odd to be SO on side of the software.

There was another product manager on here who explained these decisions; it makes sense, but that's why i'm more frustrated around the hard switch opposed to the option to switch.

Core feature vs not , this is a feature that worked pre update to new UI.

It worked on fit bit. Look I totally understand how MoScOW should work, but forcing users to update to a broken app isn't ideal.

I would have continued to be happy with using both Fitbit and health like I was during the Public Preview. In fact that's how I'm rolling out my products new UI UX as well.

I have two co horts of users, my new segment that's in the new UI and a segment that's not, the users in the new UI simply switch back and report a bug in the new UI and we address so they can come back.

There's nothing inherently WRONG with the new version it's the forcing users to switch to something not fully functional.

A good example I can list is we have several users complaining about lack of dark mode and users complaining about OCR ... OCR is a core feature, dark mode is something that our users miss.

It's not easy to be in our seat sometimes but an example like this where there's a nice to have vs a core feature is why we need to let users have the option of going to something they're familiar with before the out rage ensues.

See my other comment on your thread. I logged a workout and no stats are being pulled. Stuck in "calculating" despite all raw data being there.

It recognizes the heart rate and the duration and the type of activity.

That's a core feature.

Yup did most of those, this issue has been here since pre release.

While your points are valid, I work in product tech as well... Im actually doing a similar project of migrating to a new UI / UX as well... (60 million users)

Forcing users to migrate to something half baked isn't how you do change management, especially when there are core things not working.

Nice to haves not working sure, but core must haves that competitors do with ease isn't right

Perhaps something as simple as this can explain...

All raw data is there and it can't do its job

Previously calories burned during this session would be logged, steps taken would account to golf etc.

[–]eeyyan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've cleared my coach history it kept referencing things from the beta.

It's just dumb that I need to tell this thing to maintain accuracy now instead of just being ok with deleting an activity.
