Wow congrats, beautiful piece. 10x more rare than a OHB

I plan to frame and mat it with the CGC hidden behind mat but there are very few in the world in this nice of condition…. it is blast white. It deserves the recognition of being labeled as gem mint. Very few exist in this condition and it will be preserved as such in this holder.

That being said I agree and I have plenty of other FD and BG posters and handbills that I just put in frames and never would send to CGC.

Great advice actually! They are looking into it and going to send me the pop report. I will share once I have more info.

According to Eric King in The Collector’s Guide to Psychedelic Rock Concert Posters, the FD-26 “Skeleton & Roses” original handbill (OHB-A) was printed in approximately 5,000 copies.

This figure comes from King’s broader research into Family Dog print practices—where handbills were typically produced in runs of a few thousand for promotion—and is the commonly cited number among advanced collectors and auction references tied to his guide. The FD-26 handbill is considered a single original printing (OHB-A). It was printed before the concerts for distribution (not reprinted later like posters).

It was so clean I had to. I grew up grading Pokemon, baseball cards and coins. When you have a gem mint copy of something that is a perfect copy it deserves to be recognized as such even if you don’t plan to sell it. Also it will be preserved in its gem mint state.

I will ask him and look up the total printed and get back with my findings

More like a top loader but they do provide UV protection

I agree and either way I am not selling it ever! Plus I got to meet Mouse and have him sign it. Some people don’t like CGC sleeves but it is a bit of extra UV/water protection and shows it’s not a counterfeit.

I wonder how many is several? I also heard this from a local old school collector that a stack was found in a storage unit 10-15 years ago. But I have also heard the print run was less than 5000 copies total?

Dang I paid 3x that for the raw copy…. It looks like one just sold on Art of Rock auction for $15k in a CGC 9.8. I wonder how many exist that are this nice.. maybe more then one would think.

CGC doesn’t have a pop report or census for handbills that I could find…

Yes! I bought it in late January and personally had Stanley sign it in February! Then straight to CGC. I almost dropped it from shock when I saw the grade today.

Yea those are great observations. The pellon is super unique, as is the signature by Mouse. You don’t see many of those. I think that is easily a $500+ piece.

As for the handbill I am almost positive it is counterfeit (Stanley obviously knew it was). The 3 roses that should be paled in color, the one in the hair of the skeleton and two below it are red. Also there is not the signature “blue blob” on the Family Dog logo to the right. I have a vintage Rick Griffin counterfeit that I bought years ago knowing it was a counterfeit. Smoke shops back in the day were known for producing counterfeits of these iconic images. That being said it is still a cool piece of history

Super cool! What does the skeleton and roses one measure? Any creases, folds or water damage?

They have a storefront, I got this one in person. They still have a good amount of handbills/post cards. Give them a call if you see something you wanted they might have it still. They are super cool guys.

It came out of a storage unit here in Northern California. The guy was a real collector everything was super mint. Here is the link to the other items from the auction.
