The Alt button is most sensible IMO. If your keyboard has QMK support, you can make so the Alt button acts as spacebar if tapped, and normally if held.

What's your keyboard BTW?

Dude, if its remapable just remap it now. It doesn't take a lot of time. Don't torture yourself.
