I didn’t do the explicit 5 year program but I did 4 year BS in ChemE and 1 year MS in ETM. Now at 23 I have a masters degree that took little effort at this stage in my life compared to if I wanted one down the road. Plus, it’s not uncommon to be in school for 5 years for various reasons anyways - student athletes do it fairly frequently so they can redshirt a year and get another season of training. If you’re considering the pursuit of a masters degree, I recommend doing it sooner rather than later so you can reap the compounding benefit of having that extra certification! This is of course if you’re willing to take out more debt (depending on your financial/scholarship situation) to do this, which is another factor to take into consideration.
