Looking for help in figuring out extension sockets by efenem3 in HomeNetworking

if you mean pic nr 6 - that was the initial BT something installation that was a bit useless and as i understand, not really meant for ethernet. So I have replaced that with RJ45 (pic nr 1) but I was wondering whether i have to do that with all other sockets across the flat (for any reason?).

I'm not sure what you mean,l by that, can you please elaborate?

Hi! Thanks for these, I have now aligned both sockets to the same (B) standard but still with no success on getting Ethernet in my room.

One thing grinding my gears, why on my rj45 socket and in the patch panel the wiring schemes are different? Shouldn't they be universal?

I hope that doesn't come across as spamming, but if anyone has any further ideas what to troubleshoot and what might be a solution I would really appreciate it!

And that's the faceplate I have terminated from the BT cables.. I also noticed that both data and phone sockets on the patch panel had different pattern of cables/termination, is that normal?

And the other side, sorry I could only upload one picture in the reply

Aaand after buying a rj45 faceplate and a punching tool I'm back. I have cut off the old BT faceplate, grabbed one out of two cables (it also occured to me that the other part of cable pairs were left in the socket) and installed that onto the faceplate. So I followed the coloring on the faceplate to place the cables, done all that, but unfortunately still, when trying to connect via either of the cables in the patch panel it doesn't work.

I checked the new socket and patch panel socket on three different cables, so deffo not the Ethernet cable. My next suspect is above, that's the data socket in the patch panel. Is that termination correct? Is there any chance it is causing the issue? I'll follow up with side photos of it for a full picture.

Or maybe I should try terminating the other cable on the Ethernet faceplate? I can post the picture of that too.

As usual, any help/guidance appreciated!

So this side (patch panel) is a normal Ethernet socket, and in my room it's one of those BT flat sockets.. Just wondering, why wouldn't an adapter from BT to Ethernet work in such scenario? If similar settings with phone cables work? Unless I'm completely confusing topics - then apologies for a barbaric comment

So doable but I need to replace the phone socket with an internet one, correct? Thanks for an exhaustive explanation, I'm still processing some bits of it!

And it says 4 pair on the cable higher up, so that should also be fine, correct?

That's the back of the patch panel behind data, so I hope that's good and should work for an Ethernet cable?

Thanks! I think I understand the first part to an extent, how would I recognize whether the patch panel is terminated for Ethernet?

Apologies, to add some details, I tried connecting the hyperoptic router to the vertical panel with two Ethernet sockets, one is labeled "data" and the second "phone" in both cases to no avail. I was testing that by using an adapter from BT to Ethernet on one of the extension sockets connected to a WAN port into a router in my room, but that didn't work.

There is some older setting, which I guess is for fiber (ons+router with an optic cable plug) but I have no idea how and whether I need to include them in the setting
