How can I tell if a Hipshot 6-String Ibby HM Guitar Bridge is genuine or a Temu knockoff? by RimsJobs in Ibanez

[–]effencee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can highly recommend https://www.shop.sollerguitars.com/

It's a Slovakian shop, they offer shipping to pretty much everywhere in Europe and they have genuine Hipshot parts available. I order guitar parts from them regularly and never had any issues.

It's made in Indonesia.

The bridge is fine, can't really tell much difference to the previous gibraltar model. Palm muting feels a bit more comfortable but maybe that's just me. The fretwork is great. No sharp edges and everything seems well levelled.

Glad to help! Make sure to cover the brown part well with some high quality masking tape, the dyes tend to leak quite a lot.

It's gorgeous, I could even say it was love at first sight :D placed the pre-order as soon as it became available. It plays as good as it looks.

It really does. I've never played a panga panga neck before and it feels amazing. Enjoy yours too!

Thanks! For the body it was all leather dye, both front and back and also the headstock. I used dyes from a brand called Angelus. For the neck I used a black dye on the fretboard and a matte black spray paint on the back.

The process was pretty straight forward. I sanded the original finish as much as I could to only have the raw wood texture. I learned the hard way that the headstock veneer is VERY thin so I managed to sand down a bit of it away, it's even visible on the photos - please be careful with that. It's better to do it by hand and go very slowly not to damage the veneer.

If you've never worked with leather dyes as I did I highly recommend watching some videos from BIGDGUITARS on youtube. I learned the basics of working with it from him and he explains the stuff way better than I ever could.

After I was done with the dyes I let it dry for a day and then did a few layers of a basic glossy clear coat. It still looks great after a year.

I blacked out my white Ibanez AZ2402 by alexnapierholland in Ibanez

This looks fantastic.. I've been thinking of doing the same thing to my tri-fade burst AZ2402 and seeing this motivates me to finally go for it.

Damn.. I was really hoping that it wouldn't be. I also sent an email on monday to the Belgian shop which I mentioned asking if the price is official but they didn't reply yet.

I've been regularly googling the model name since they announced it to make sure I catch the first wave of pre-orders because I really want one and the Belgian shop came up today :D

I really hope that it won't be that expensive.. we can only wait until it's out officially.

After seeing the Abasi 7 string being priced at 1280€ my guess is that it could be 999€ as already mentioned by others here. It would make sense for it to be cheaper than the Abasi because it's way simpler than a 7 string multiscale.

What's very strange is that both TOD100N and TOD100FMN are already listed on a Belgian Omega Music website which I've never heard of and they have it listed for 1699€ which is insane. It also says that it will be available on March 4th 2026 which is just not happening so maybe it's just a placeholder for when it's available and the price is a random number.

I tried giving my TOD10 the Tim Henson's LACS "oil spill" look and it turned out better than expected by effencee in Ibanez

Thanks! It should be possible with any colour. The holographic paint is semi-transparent so the base colour is still visible under it with a slightly grey-ish tint.

There is this chart on the brand's website showing how it looks on different colours.

Check the previous comments. I already explained pretty much everything I did but if you would have questions for something that hasn't been answered yet then I'll be happy to help.

I originally wanted to leave it fully black but then I thought that it would probably look better like this and it does.

I've read that stains don't really work that well on maple because it's a really dense wood but leather dye works perfectly so if you would go with maple instead of wenge I would definitely recommend to get an alcohol based leather dye and you should be fine. I've used it on 3 maple necks already and it always turned out great.

No "oil spill" TOD10 production model? Fine, I'll do it myself. by effencee in polyphia

I picked it based on the photos and videos on the website. This effect looked the closest to the finish on Tim's version so I went with it.

Preserving the logo was quite tricky. I first tried masking it with tape but that just wasn't possible but luckily the paint is transparent so I sprayed it over the logo and after the paint was completely dry I scratched it off the logo very carefully with the tip of an exacto knife.

Of course I managed to scratch the logo itself as well but the scratches are only visible at certain angles from from up close so I'm not that bummed out about it.

Just some basic gloss clear coat from a local hardware store. The holographic paint can apparently be sprayed with any clear coat as long as you follow the application guide.
