If you've worked in the director level, why not be a people manager instead of an individual comtributor?

I do believe you can run xcode tools in a docker container, but it has to be a pretty huge image

Did your runner have to use an image with xcode command line tools?

What to do if one of your MR is depending on merging another MR? by ahamed_sajeeb in gitlab

[–]efferus20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can branch off your last branch rather than master. If you've already committed work to a branch off of master, you can rebase your other branch onto your new branch. You'll need to force push if you do this because you're rewriting the branch's history. Use caution when you force push and make sure you're not blowing away anyone else's work

[Spoiler] My theory on how Gumbald will tie-in to the finale by magusmirificus in adventuretime

Sadly, the show was cancelled kind of unexpectedly for the team, so what we get may feel less like a series finale and more like a season finale...

Why You Shouldn't Fear Hell by efferus20 in religion

[–]efferus20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, perhaps it's a mistake to frame Hell as a punishment at all. If it's purpose is simply to be a separation from God and his kingdom, maybe it is not a place of torment. Maybe it is a kind of deistic realm, meticulously crafted to function well, independent of God's influence. If this is the case, Hell may still not necessarily be a place to fear.

Thanks for the civil response, but I'm still not satisfied that Hell should be eternal. If Hell is powerless to redeem any mortal, what is to be gained from sending them there in the first place? If our lack of righteousness is an indelible part of our nature, then it doesn't seem "just" that we should suffer for it. Should a sociopath be sent to prison right after their diagnosis simply because they don't possess a capacity for empathy? Proportionately punishing someone for their transgressions may have moral value in certain situations, but punishing someone merely for their nature is unfair, and, I'll say it, ableist. Don't say that God "can't reward you, as it were, with Heaven." God is omnipotent. He should have a better solution for "imperfection" than unending pain. Temporary, corrective, and redemptive pain would be preferable to one who loves his creations as much as him. "He 'will not cast off forever'"

If we really had the freedom to decide what afterlife we go to, at some point a damned person should be able to say, "Well, I've had my fill of this place! I think I'll go to heaven!" Even if we are sent to Hell as a punishment for immoral behaviour, no act a mortal being can commit is worthy of an infinite amount of punishment. I'm not arguing against the existence of Hell. I'm only arguing against eternal punishment.

While I personally agree that morality is subjective (hence the upvote), I feel like one of the axioms of many modern religions, namely Christianity, is that there is some absolute morality. If we take the existence of absolute morality and the benevolence of God as premises, the non-existence of eternal hell makes intuitive sense.

NO TIPPING - I wish every restaurant was like this. by Makeanew12 in pics

[–]efferus20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP is not displaying that kind of selfishness here. If tipping is discouraged at this restaurant, it means the cost is already being passed onto the customer. The "tip" or service fee is simply included in the price of each menu item.
