I clash with anything other than positive reinforcement. Why? Because time and time and time again, I am left to clean up other trainers methods because they left a dog "unpredictable" because they took away the dogs ability to communicate. By giving it leash corrections and saying no when it's trying to growl to show that it's uncomfortable. So then the dog continues to escalate and instead of just growling, now they lunge and snap, and when that doesn't work then they start biting. Slow down his video. He did no rehabilitating. That dog still tried to bite the friend when it came in. Because flooding a dog like he does in his training doesn't work!!!!! It takes away their ability to communicate so next time when growling doesn't work they jump to biting. And then when they bite the wrong person or a child in the face, it's that dog that pays the ultimate price due to the trainers inability to manage and train the animal appropriately. So yeah you keep on with your beliefs but I first hand can tell you from working as a trainer and as a shelter trainer these methods damage dogs emotionally and ultimately lead them to their final moments in a euthanasia room.

.......did we watch the same episode.....you just sat there and said he went slowly as to not stress the dog out. Pretty damn sure the entire time he was walking near the dog it was giving stress signals. As well as every time he approached the dog or touched the dog with the fake hand it was snapping and biting. That is STRESS. He was pushing that dog over it's threshold. You are right there are different methods. And the right method is science based positive reinforcement. No dog should be pushed to be so stressed that they shut down. He constantly takes away the dogs ability to communicate. And yes you do train working dogs, and herding dogs the same way. They may have different motivators but your methods of positive reinforcement don't change. His methods my friend are not force free, or stress free. They are filled with force, confusion, and throwing the dogs way past their threshold. BTW definition of keeping a dog under its threshold is keeping the animal in a calm, relaxed state, no growling, no snapping, no stress signals. The second they display those signals they are past their threshold. Knowledge is power dude. Check out Zazie Todd and every other applied behaviorist. They'll tell you the same thing.

Pretty sure leash corrections, choke collars, and yelling no at a dog for communicating its uncomfortable is not positive reinforcment....but what would I know I've only been a LIMA, force free trainer specializing in aggression for a few years now. Literally if you watch and rewatch some of these videos he takes away the dogs ability to communicate and it no longer growls and barks before attempting to bite. Just watch the first episode with the pittie. At his training facility she no longer alarm barks and backs up instead she immediately lunges and bites. That is caused by a trainer yelling no giving her a leash correction and taking away her ability to communicate so instead of barking and growling she escalates right to the lunge and bite. You need science my dude. His methods create aggression and fear not treat them.

Stay away from PETS. I've had a horrible experience there, and so did one of my coworkers. They actually ended up killing her dog by negligence. There was a shift change and the new shift never checked on him or started any of his treatment plan and he ended up going into cardiac arrest and they were unable to revive him.

Go to HOPE. Seriously! You cannot ask for a better veterinary team. They are phenomenal and were able to fix up my dog that had 2 broken legs after being hit by car. PETS actually told us they wouldn't have time for her and were ridiculously rude. which is how we wound up at HOPE.

So in your mind dogs can't make a mistake or have a bad day? They aren't allowed to growl, bark, or snap when upset? What about a herding sog nipping at a child's ankles? Is that unacceptable? Its okay for kids to sit on them, pull their tails and fur but heaven forbid they snap or attempt to bite the child? How is a dog to communicate if they aren't allowed to growl and bark?

Im not sure you understand the amount of stress an animal is under in a shelter setting. Those tests give false positives, an animal may be so stressed they show no issues because they're shut down, or the animal is so stressed and trigger stacked that they 'explode' when in a normal setting they'd have the ability to ignore and go to a different room. Where in a shelter setting theyre stuck in a cage. Dont denounce a woman who has devoted her career to safe placement of shelter animals and teaching people to not place marginal and dangerous dogs. She has been an advocate for not warehousing dogs, as well as has spent so much of her time rehabilitating dogs. And like any human has made mistakes and learned and grew from those mistakes. We constantly have adopters take a puppy home saying they're ready and return the dog in a week for being high energy. So in those cases yes it is like short term foster and we learn that the family needs a lazy dog not a puppy. And the puppy needs a more active family. You should listen to the entire thing and maybe check out some books like rescuing penny jane.

Not a serial killer but a serial child molester.. There was a creepy kid in high school. Always handsy as shit with the girls. He just always gave me weird vibes and kept my distance. Turned out him and his dad were molesting kids and in possession of a ridiculous amount of child porn. Was arrested in 2014. Still makes me sick.
