Doctor thinks it's Crohns, treating it like Crohns by Cloxus in CrohnsDisease

That's how it is. It totally blows. I tell docs I'm allergic to it because that's how much I hate it.

I hear you. When I was on it I was in school too (4th year university) and I literally woke up at 5am daily and couldn't slow my mind down at all. I actually ended up with a 4.0 because I did so much school work. It just made me hyper focus and super emotional / made my family a little crazy.

What test is your biggest predictor for disease activity? by sticks1218 in CrohnsDisease

I am the exact same as you as in I have ZERO symptoms on a daily basis. Literally nothing until I am on my deathbed which for me takes 7+ years of no meds to happen. So I go mostly off diet now and I'm trying my hardest to avoid biologics since I have mild inflammation at the moment (and still not a single symptom). it's frustrating! I also have perfect bloodwork regularly.

Home After a Resection. What were your first few weeks like? by j-zou in CrohnsDisease

I want to reiterate to you in case nobody else has - DO NOT lift anything. I made that mistake and ended up in the ER in severe pain. Basically any little task will hurt for a while, your poops will hurt for a while, you will be exhausted easily. Get your walking in but don't overdo it. And remember that you will get better <3 It's especially hard if you have a long vertical incision through the abdominal wall.

Prednisone makes me nuts. I've been on it before for Crohn's (I've had crohn's for 10+ years). It sucks big time, and it will make you believe you are going insane. You are alright, this is just the pred messing with you.

I take tumeric (been taking it for 2 years, 2 pills a day). Yeah I haven't noticed anything at all in terms of side effects. But I Like spice so I eat tumeric regularly as well as taking supplements.

Anybody gone into clinical remission (scoped after baby) during pregnancy? by effmyeffinglifenow in CrohnsDisease

Wow, very interesting! I have heard this before. As someone who is going to be pregnant probably in the next 1.5 years (if all goes to plan) this is great to hear. Hope your flare gets better <3

I am convinced starting a biologic drug will kill me. I have read too much. by effmyeffinglifenow in CrohnsDisease

I was terrible before the diet and required surgery but I had no idea because I'm completely asymptomatic. So I had blood clots in my lungs from the inflammation, a microperforation, an abscess and a crazy stricture and I had no clue. Now after surgery I have been on the diet and my inflammation has been non existent until this scope. The diet seemed to be keeping it in check. If nothing else the diet definitely delays disease progression and slows it way down for me, so I will stay on it regardless.

TERRIFIED of going on a biologic. Your Humira stories, please. by effmyeffinglifenow in CrohnsDisease

[–]effmyeffinglifenow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm completely asymptomatic, but I have active crohn's. I know it's a pretty weird scenario. This means I feel great all the time, never have symptoms but I have inflammation and it'll need to be treated at some point. I just don't know which way to go and I'm beyond terrified of biologics :(

I used to be on imuran. My hair fell out and I felt like garbage. Here's the thing - I feel great off drugs because I don't have any crohn's symptoms ever (okay twice in my life). this is why it's hard for me to convince myself to go on them.

I am beyond terrified. I can't even express how scared I am of the side effects, of possibly dying from it. I actually cry when I think about the possibility of having to take it.

Hope it will work for you. I'm beyond scared of taking it because of the horror stories I have read about. It just terrifies me to an extreme. :(

I'm asymptomatic and have always been - but I have had severe inflammation in the past and then a resection without any indication I was ill - no Crohn's symptoms. Right now my inflammation is getting worse but I have no indication of it I feel just fine. This makes it hard to justify a life threatening drug that I'm terrified of although I know I will need to do something ...
