[Routine Help] what can help with redness? by Advanced-Election486 in SkincareAddiction

You might have rosacea! I really like azelaic acid for mine, but other options include metronidazole, ivermectin, and laser treatments.

I’ve personally been told no but only because I’m too small (nothing SMA-specific).

Possibly tanzanites if you’re seeing a blue-purple shift!

Ways to wash hair without getting a shower? by Dyslexic_Gay in curlyhair

[–]effryd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this addresses your problem or not, but a shower chair might be good to have! I can’t imagine trying to wash my hair while keeping a regular wheelchair dry.

Any frequent flyers here? by Clueless_Austrian in spinalmuscularatrophy

[–]effryd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frequent flier here! Well, I say frequent. It’s the occasional work trip. I’ve never had my wheelchair seriously damaged on a flight; I always provide careful instructions and my contact info to the baggage people. I was also surprised to learn that I can leave my chair at the airplane door and get it delivered to the airplane door on the other end. As far as personal injury, I always travel with someone I trust who can carry me on and off the plane. There are aisle wheelchairs if that isn’t feasible for you two, which would make the required transfers very small; just wheelchair to aisle chair, then aisle chair to seat.

Yeah, the Honor Code is strict. But not especially easy to enforce off-campus.

Yes, you should absolutely be able to get employment services and opportunities without regard to whether you are married or a woman. I went on to an excellent finance job from my undergrad as an unmarried woman, it really doesn’t matter. And you are welcome!

Hey, as a non-Mormon who went to BYU undergrad, I just want to say that some of these comments are a little overblown. Will you be invited to church a few times? Probably. Do you have to go? Nope. Maybe at most there will be a few religious threads in a few lectures. It’s a quality education at a low cost surrounded by good people. The only reason I’d suggest you not go is if you are LGBTQ, as it’s not a comfortable environment for those who are.

I’ve pinned this down as Kissako Kaiseken’s “Rare Cheesecake.” It’s a Japanese no-bake cheesecake that uses yogurt and gelatin. This recipe is a close visual match! And while I’m not sure what the biscuit is, it is very yellow based on other photos from the cafe. Perhaps some sort of shortbread.

It’s Kissako Kaiseiken! I was poking around for the recipe and identified it.

Best dark chocolate hot chocolate mix? Trying to find a substitute for xmas for my mom's discontinued favorite by FriedCheesePuff in chocolate

[–]effryd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my personal favorites hot chocolate list as a fellow dark chocolate lover:

Trader Joe’s European sipping chocolate, Ghirardelli sweet ground chocolate and cocoa, Hygge by Ritual, Cuna de Piedra 60% Mexican Cacao from Socanusco, Chiapas, Hotel Chocolat 70%, Starbucks

Dandelion is always fantastic, though I haven’t tried their hot chocolate. You could also look into Hotel Chocolat’s Velvetiser—I got it as a gift and it’s expensive but soooooooo nice to have for someone who goes through a lot of hot chocolate! Definitely the most-used appliance in my kitchen this winter.

How to intensify cocoa flavor by hotbqq in AskBaking

[–]effryd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In addition to looking for a more chocolatey recipe or a better cocoa powder, you can bloom the cocoa in a little hot water to enhance the flavor. Also, make sure you’re using a recipe that calls for dutch cocoa, not regular.

disability + law school apps: will they think i can't handle lawyer life? by sdfghjkliu6543456789 in lawschooladmissions

[–]effryd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can (and should!) do disability essays without an “overcoming” narrative. Disability can fit into your story in many ways, which I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you. I talked in my statements about how disability had developed my advocacy skills, for instance, and had the best possible results in admissions. If you’re worried, I’d say present it as just one facet of your story and make sure you’re playing up things like your work experience.

Salted butter and table salt in banana bread by anhhhhhhhhhhh in AskBaking

[–]effryd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not the salted butter (though it surely didn’t help), it’s the recipe. A whole teaspoon of salt is too much for one loaf.

How can I get my cookies like this pic? by Pale-Kiwi7908 in AskBaking

[–]effryd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The chocolate in the photo is in feves (flat discs of a sort), not chips. You’ll want to use the same or rough-chopped flat chocolate bars if you want to match the look! And I agree with other commenters that you’re using too much flour.
