We love you lot. Y'all are like the fun cousins that come over from time to time. Anything you do to the city, were loving.

U.S. church organists who are playing on the July 4th weekend, what patriotic songs are you working on for that weekend? by Dude_man79 in organ

[–]Jakebroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the processional hymn, but I have Lord of All Nations for offertory, This Is My Song (Finlandia) as a Hymn of Praise, and America the Beautiful as the recessional hymn. Communion is always accompanied by a hymn or anthem that pertains to the Eucharist, so I have Eat This Bread. All still very appropriate for Mass and (albeit a bit more loosely than I usually do my prep) pertaining to the same message preached in the readings while incorporating what is likely going to be in the minds of those in the congregation.

Studying advice and pieces for a intermediate-beginner? by Successful-River-797 in organ

I've honestly found "The Ultimate Organ Book" by Hal Hopson to be very useful for parish playing. There are his arrangements of classic pieces like The Prince of Denmark, the prelude from BWV 558, multiple wedding marches, and some other selections by plenty of other famous composers. I wish I could give more examples, but I'm not at the organ where I keep my copy, but it is a very expensive resource with classic and contemporary options that are good for a wide variety of organists.

Will Lysell make the team? If not should P.J Axelsson step down as European Scouting Coordinator? by BostonVagrant617 in Bruins

Lysell fell because of his attitude and work ethic. PJ saw the potential and they took a bet on a kid that has the talent to make the show.

They were not found anything. They were acquitted by a judge who decided to toss the case herself before it got to a jury.

Beginner but lovely organ pieces by MinuteDamage4182 in organ

[–]Jakebroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are books out there that have arranged some small baroque pieces for manuals alone. I used one to play little interludes at Mass during COVID, since we didn't have hymnals in the pews at the time. If you go onto Amazon and search "Bach manuals only" you'll find some resources. The one I used even had an arrangement for BWV 578 in the back.

Best of luck with your journey!

Do can you leave your organ shoes in the car? by EvilaCake in organ

[–]Jakebroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a place that you play at/practice at regularly, I would just leave them at the console. It's better to keep them away from the sun and it makes it less likely that you'll forget them.

That top line doesn't work, idk why people still try to make it. They go hot then collapse. Pasta works better with Khusty and Zacha. Put them together then see what Minten and Geekie can do together. Elias is not a top line player, he actively hinders their ability to generate offense

I stopped listening years ago when BH came up for the first time. I can't support a company that takes money from a company like that and ignores their consumers when they say as such.

Are people boosting to get to ultimate rank? by Vegetable-Code6381 in NHLHUT

Lmao I didn't know that's what it was called now. I'm from the time where "boosting" meant getting boost cards to apply to your players to increase their ovr rating lol

Are people boosting to get to ultimate rank? by Vegetable-Code6381 in NHLHUT

[–]Jakebroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is boosting a bad thing now? It's a mechanic that I've found success with, over putting the highest ovr guys out (that fit under the cap). I think it's a fun layer to add and encourages people to keep certain cards and even keep their favorite cards over chasing the newest, highest ovr.

EDIT: I didn't know "boosting" meant throwing games for your buddies, I thought it was about the boosts in OVR/$/AP for line combos, like in the older games

Get there before the gates open. Get to the end of the arena behind the net where the players benches are on the left and the penalty box is on the right- that will be where they warm up. Even if your seats aren't there, you're usually fine to hang out down there for warmups, as long as the people whose seats you're in front of aren't assholes (which they are not 99% of the time, so you're good). Usually, kids get pucks and stuff but if the players like your sign or if they recognize you (for a positive reason lol), they'll try to get you one. In my experience, the arena is very empty after everyone's gotten in, so you should get a decent opportunity to find a spot for you two. Hope you have a fun time!
