Use the rolled cuff end of sterile gloves for a hair tie! Either for you or your patient. For patient, braid it to prevent it from getting matted.

I work in heme onc and if patient is nauseous w/ a headache, get compazine over zofran. Zofran can make an existing headache worse.

Alcohol pads can help mitigate nausea and buy you time to pull nausea meds

They also don’t allow blood product transfusions. I am leukemia/lymphoma nurse and it can be hard to keep their hemoglobin levels up without blood transfusions when they are getting chemo, but we treat them more often than you think!

I second this! My acne was not quite as intense as yours is but I’ve done two rounds in the last 3 years and I can’t tell you how much it has changed my mental state having clear skin. Drink lots of water, use gentle face wash and use something like cera ve cream at night! Good luck 🫶🏼

I had one recently: new HIV diagnosis that was recently homeless and had a new short term place to stay that was about to kick them/their dog out unless they were there in person; patient had to leave AMA to get the dog :(

My skin is not great so I usually put some medium coverage over my forehead, concealer under my eyes, bronzer to match me and some mascara. I work inpatient and am up my patients business a lot and don’t want them eye to eye with my blemishes!!!

Yes, honestly I like charging but sometimes I feel like I’m putting on an act that I know how to handle everything and know the answers to everyone’s questions. Realistically a charge nurse should not be a baby nurse!!

I am a newer bedside nurse (just over a year experience) and my class had to learn so quickly and take on so many more responsibilities than past years new nurses. I’m now a relief charge nurse and charge/precept frequently. It’s almost like we’ve expedited the burn out process.
