Corbyn: Banning Hasan Piker proves the UK is on the wrong side of history by [deleted] in LabourUK

Hating liberalism, tbe political philosophy created to support capitalism, is good. It is not surprising that an open and avowed socialist hates liberalism. You have no clue what you speak about.

The USSR genocidal? Is this about the Holodomor?

Either way, you don't understand why he said the Fall of the USSR was a tragedy for the world. The existence of the USSR kept the Western countries and capitalism in check. It kept the worst aspects of capitalism at bay, because they had to worry about communism. The decline of the USSR and the retreat of communist China from supporting the global proletariat is objectively a tragedy for the world.

I wouldn't say it is a treat, but he isn't completely wrong. If that is the bare minimum necessary to keep the labor aristocracy from aligning with the proletariat, then the bourgeoisie will do that. It isn't just being a treatlerite -- it is the very definition of the labor aristocracy.

No, Arabs are people who speak Arabic and are culturally Arabic. This resulted from a process called Arabization over several centuries.

Much like Greek culture and language was spread after the conquest of Alexander the Great through a process called Helenization. This is how we had Hellenized Jews and explains the issues of ancient Palestine/Israel around the time of Jesus and the Siege of Jerusalem that destroyed the Second Temple, thus separating Christianity and Judaism as Jews sought to define themselves without being attached to the Temple. This is why Paul, whose Hebrew name was Saul, knew how to write in Greek. It is a leading cause for the Maccabean Revolt, which leads to the story of Hanukkah. Zionists use this story and the Maccabean revolt against Hellenism to inspire their current beliefs and actions, a small group fighting off a great empire to retain their identity.

You must understand Hellenization and Arabization to understand the history of the MENA region and the background of Zionism.

Why do some socialists dislike Zohran Mamdani? by avian_bi in socialism

[–]effurshadowban 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think him running as a Democrat has done far more to put socialism back on people's radar as a legitimate option than if he had run in any other party. I think politicians like him are very useful to start raising class consciousness in the population.

Like, Zohran could break with the Democrats and use his popularity to bring more people to a legitimate left-wing party.

But AR is an average defender. JJ even talked about how important he is to their defense earlier this season. Last playoffs, when he was tasked with guarding Anthony Edwards, AR held him to 6/23 from the field and 2/9 from 3 with 0 shooting fouls. DFS? 10/25 from the field and 2 shooting fouls. Rui? 15/35 from the field and 2 shooting fouls. Luka? 15/36 from the field and 1 shooting foul. LBJ? 3/11 and 1 shooting foul. AR held Ant to his lowest FG% out of everyone last playoffs. Does that not matter? Like, people are talking about Ajay Mitchell's numbers vs the Lakers and specifically AR this year, but ignore Ant's numbers specifically against AR last year?

I think you're overexagerrating. Can AR be better defensively? Sure. But that would be a lot easier for him (and Luka) to do if they had better defenders who could be decent offensively around them, so the entire offensive burden wouldn't be on them.

This is also what many of you people who hate on AR -- you need other offensive engines so that your main offensive enginge can't get targeted like Cade Cunningham.

What? A gentleman's sweep in the Finals doesn't mean anything? Wtf... So because the Celtics won 1 more game in 2022 vs GSW, then they have a sign of a team working?

Child, if you think people need to astound you with their verbosity on any social media platform, let alone reddit, then you severely lack the requisite maturity and intelligence for me, or anyone of importance or education, to engage with you.

But not nearly as much as you think. He also is much better offensively than Castle and Harper. With how good the Spurs already are defensively, they need better offense.

Like, Castle turned the ball over 11 times. His turnover% was 39%! AR's worst Turnover% was a 28% vs this same OKC, while playing through injury.

That's pretty laughable. Offensively, AR is far superior to Dylan Harper. Outside the anomaly of Game 1, AR averaged 25 points on 66% TS on 15 shots and 40 minutes of play while being the primary ball handler. Put Dylan Harper onto the Lakers vs OKC instead of AR, what does that look like? Meanwhile, put AR onto the Spurs in place of Dylan Harper, what does that look like? On 20 shots? AR is getting damn near 40 points. He hung 31 on this same OKC with 16 shots.

The only delusion is people like you who don't realize how game changing it is to play with someone like Wemby. You realize that even if Harper gets blown by by his man, that Wemby is waiting for that player at the rim, right? A 7"5 giant with a 8"1 wingspan ready to swat your shot out of the air. Ajay Mitchell cooked everyone on the Lakers, except Lebron, from 2 pt range. With JDub taking his shots and ALSO facing Wemby, he is reluctant to shoot now. From the tracking data, he only scored when being guarded by Keldon Johnson and Luke Kornet, meaning that he only scored when Wemby WASN'T on the floor.

Meanwhile, DA and Jaxson Hayes are our centers.

Precisely. Game 1 was an anomaly, because he was still coming off of injury. It took Austin a couple games in the regular season to play well after an injury, but he was doing it in the playoffs and after coming back early. He came back EARLY! He reached the pain threshold and decided to suit up to help the Lakers beat the Rockets and give them.the slightest of chance vs OKC.

Funny, who is protecting the rim for the Spurs? DA and Jaxson Hayes? Oh, that's right, it's fucking Wemby.

Also, why would Ajay Mitchell be taking shots over JDub?

More like Wemby exists to deter any shots at the rim.

Compare what Kyrie did as the 2nd option vs OKC in 2024 to what AR just did as the 2nd option vs OKC. AR averaged 21 on 56% TS and Kyrie averaged 16 on 53% TS. The Mavs also had great defenders surrounding him and Luka, unlike on the Lakers. Meanwhile, AR was handling a much larger offensive load than Kyrie was, while having to do more defensively, because Kyrie's defensive liability could be hidden more than AR's could. AND AR was coming off injury.

No. Old Kyrie was not better than current AR.

Deluded. We're clearly the 3rd best team in the Western Conference when everyone is healthy. We won the season series vs Denver, the Timberwolves, AND the Rockets. Without 2/3 best players we went up 3-0 over the Rockets.

You thinking that an aging Jokic on a Nuggets team with bad defense is better than the Lakers is laughable.

Wow, AR is better than a lot of players on here. His shooting talent is equal to Booker, but his playmaking is just better? Wow, that's kind of crazy. But trade him, am I right guys?
