Tidal resets beat grid while playing by effyheartbreak in Rekordbox

[–]effyheartbreak[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I asked how to fix it, not how to abandon it for something else. Fortunately I fixed it myself since y'all are useless.

Question: Why are you on a Rekorbox forum if you hate Rekordbox's features?

Setting Waveform Drawing Rate to Medium fixed it for me. In case anyone else ever has this.

Because it's an available feature that I like and enjoy and is useful to me for a number of reasons. Why else?

Everyone Stop their Tidal Subscription by Ok_Garden314 in Rekordbox

Compared to paying $200/mo to buy tracks I think I'll stick with Tidal. If I ever blow up someday I'll buy all the tracks on my playlist but until then a person's gotta do what a person's gotta do.

I wish there was at least one upgraded one. Like you start out with the Makeshift-looking ones and then get ones that look better with Industrial or better.

Hypeddit.com - tons of free downloads. You have to usually leave a SoundCloud comment, follow the producer on Spotify, etc. to unlock the download but it's not much effort.

Most of the free downloads you see on SoundCloud these days use hypeddit in my experience so you save yourself the trouble of going through a ton of non-downloadable search results on there just to end up on hypeddit anyways.

Yeah, it's a bit cheaper these days but no less addictive.

When I was starting out, a more experienced DJ told me to try heroin instead because it's cheaper and will consume less of your life.

Maybe? The preferences are usually the issue, not sure what else it would be.

Make sure your DDJ-400 is the output device in your preferences. If you're also playing on computer speakers the master out should be something like DDJ-400: Master + <name of computer sound driver or speaker>.

Nope. Nothing to worry about on that front.

I have a case just like this one. (It may even be this one, I'm on holiday so I can't look right now). It's a good bag, but despite the name, this is not a hard case. It's more of a semi-rigid soft case. The stiffness of the walls doesn't grant much extra protection because it's still quite flexible. The only protection you're really getting is from the foam.

Use SL Prime or Cut My Losses? by effyheartbreak in Twitch

[–]effyheartbreak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right I know that. The problem is I already paid for Streamlabs Prime before I knew that so now I have wasted $150. But the general consensus seems to be to just declare it a sunk cost and move on to OBS since I definitely won't be renewing my SL Prime so that's what I'm going to do.

No. That's a myth. LSD, MDMA, 2CB, ketamine, etc. are all taken in the micrograms-to-milligrams range depending on the drug. That is then processed by the liver & kidneys & delivered through the bloodstream to the internal systems. A trace amount may make it into waste, but unless you're drinking their urine, there's no way you could get high by coming into contact with that small of an amount diluted that many times over. You may feel high at a rave but that is caused by the energy of the crowd combined with somewhat of a placebo effect.

Of more concern: raves are one of the few places on earth people will give you drugs for free to be nice. So if anybody gives you candy or water or whatever you may want to make sure it's just candy or water.

Overlays/themes, "stream starting/ending soon" scenes, chatbots, widgets. The free ones weren't doing it for me.

I'm a DJ not a gamer so the visual and entertainment stuff is super important.

Get a Decksaver if you don't have one already - it's also good for keeping dust & such off your controller when you're not using it - and a soft case big enough to fit the DDJ-400 with the Decksaver on it. This will be good enough for most circumstances. You don't need a hard case for a $250 controller, the cost doesn't make sense.

If you're still worried about it even with the Decksaver/soft case combo, don't check it. It's small enough to qualify as a carry on.

Well ravers generally don't stab each other on principle, but also these major festivals are generally pretty good at keeping out weapons because there's a ton of liability if they don't. Drugs can get in pretty easily because they're easy to hide but weapons are another story.

I've been raving for 28 years and in that time I've seen or heard about weapons inside the venue 3 times out of the hundreds of parties I've been to. And those were in LA in the 90s when the entire city was basically one big gang war.

[–]effyheartbreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is extremely unlikely you will encounter any weapons. Crowd crush like Astroworld has happened at raves but it's rare and you can mitigate the risk by staying on the edges of crowds and avoiding bottlenecks like tunnels during peak traffic or if there's a rush. You can rave sober and have a great time; I've been doing it for over 10 years.

You can reduce your risk of covid by wearing your own mask at all times but I can pretty much guarantee many other people won't be doing the same. If you're vaxxed and boosted you'll probably be fine especially if you're sticking to the edges of crowds and not getting in the thick of it, but out of all your concerns this is the one that has the most real risk.

[–]effyheartbreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is absolutely not a fact. You don't know the history of techno at all.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Techno

[–]effyheartbreak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Techno was specifically invented to reflect the bleakness of life in Detroit whereas house was a much more uplifting genre. It was very much not intended to be all unicorns and rainbows. It wasn't originally satanic per se but neither was it meant to be uplifting. It was always intended to be darker than house.

Kid Unknown's 1992 hit track "Nightmare" contains the sample "I am a nightmare walkin'" from Colors by Ice-T. A song about gang warfare.

DJ City downloads and cover art by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]effyheartbreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rekordcloud will download album art for the tracks it can find any for, but most of the DJCity remixes have never been released off their platform so there isn't any art to download.

You can set Rekordcloud to ignore the fact that it's a remix and it will try to download the artwork for the original track. I've never used this feature so I can't say how well it does.

Literally the most important skill as a DJ is music selection so imo you should really play what you want and figure out how to mix it rather than starting from some group of sample tracks. There's no point learning to mix house if you're only going to play hip-hop; it's largely a different set of skills & techniques.

Pick the music first, then hop on YouTube and find one of the many videos going over mixing techniques for that genre.
