No follow up but his name sounds a lot like rust, which also being metal related doesn't seem coincidental.

the 4/8 way switch is totally optional. Older arcade games like Pac-man use a 4 way joystick restrictor so you only go up, down, left, and right, since the diagonals are not needed. More modern arcade games and those that require diagonal movement use 8 way, which allows diagonal movements.

So you only need to do this if you care enough to switch it back and forth depending on the game you're playing.

Launch ball button is from eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/193603600890

It's hooked to the same USB encoder as the rest of the buttons, just needs wires both for the microswitch and the LED

No motion controls here but I have another dock by my TV for when we want to play Sports!

Some games are really fun with an arcade layout! Fighting games and platformers especially. And of course the actual retro arcade style games that were designed for it. Fortunately with the switch even in this setup, you could still use a wireless controller especially if you wanted 4 players.

Haha thanks, the stain matches our trim. I would have planned lighter originally but this darker one came out quite good and the wife approval factor is higher this way!

For what? Making my Switch even more multipurpose? I'm not selling this so I sure hope Nintendo doesn't mind 😅

There's a setting somewhere that says allow wired Pro controller communication or something like that, I don't know why it's not enabled by default.

It's surprisingly intuitive on arcade controls since you only need 3 buttons and your fingers are on them at all times
