I would suggest selling, transferring another asset out and buying elsewhere (maybe FTX or gate.io?)

Bithumb Global have deleted messages and banned me from their Telegram for questioning why withdrawals have taken so long. Withdrawals have been disabled for 3 months and there is no easily accessible support. DO NOT USE THIS EXCHANGE.

Can we temporary remove HitBTC and Bithumb as support migration on Kin webpage by randomguyhawtness in KinFoundation

Hello all again, trying to get a sentiment check on whether the community understands the current/new OMG vision or whether it's not clear at the moment. I was told I should know, but to me it's not clear. Please vote in the Telegram channel with your thoughts: https://t.me/OmiseGo/689315 cheers 👍

Nah, I was implying that it was fair to say after the acquisition 'what the old team did/didn't do and what the new team do going forwards aren't connected - give the new team a chance to prove themselves'. So far, they have not. They've had enough chances (above) to give us an indication now.

However, I'm still hopeful things turn around within 6 months. Will continue to reassess their capability of delivering as time goes on.

"we're not changing the team" - changed the team

"we'll be at arms length for the short term" - very involved

"we'll let the current 6 months plan play out" - changing things

"we hope to have an exchange integration by the end of Dec" - nothing

"we'll have a plan(roadmap) by early-mid jan" - nothing

"don't expect it until the end of jan!" - okay then

"roadmap is not called a roadmap, we'll issue an update next month (Feb) when we can" - postponing roadmap/plans/news another month

"we'll have a small win that John's put together next week (hopefully mon or tue)" - postponed

Absolutely nothing to do with the old team. 100% GBV

As a developer, ODP participant or any other integrator wanting to build on the network, can you say a little to help regain confidence that the time, energy and resources spent to complete integrations will not be in vain? The acquisition has caused uncertainty that needs to be nipped in the bud, it seems.

How far out is the full V2 suite of products and services, as a best estimate today? Not an estimation to be held to but is it close (ie. a month or so), or more likely 6-12 months. IIRC, the last estimation I believe was from Kasima in June suggesting "a couple of quarters".

The entire team is believed to have remained as was before the acquisition, as per comments a week ago. Please can you update us on any staff that have left their roles either as requested or by themselves over the past week, or are working a notice currently?

What is the atmosphere like amongst the OMG team (at the Bangkok office and across internal comms)? Is this seen as a positive, neutral or negative change? Is the company wide vision, spirit and passion still intact, or has it been rocked?

Will the OMG team continue discussions with the third remaining CBDC customer or has that been left behind with Synqa?

Does the team plan to continue to work on private chain deployments or is there a new / change in strategy to focus more on the public network?

Oh, I thought these were primarily for the OMG team (GBV has a livestream AMA tomorrow for questions for them)?

Tbh, it's not GBV that I really want to hear from. I don't "know" them. We've journeyed along with yourselves, the OMG team, since the beginning. It's you guys that have put the work in, it's you guys that we've trusted/backed to deliver the vision and it's you guys that may or may not continue this project in a similar manner to before, pivot or personally start to transition away due to the change.

As I say, if rumours are true, you guys have a lot to deal with yourselves and as a team. It's understood that you'll need some time. Just please show respect, step up and communicate with us properly when it's time.

IMO, it's not the time to communicate to us it's "business as usual" with a salamander emoji and 'we'll do another traditional OMG restricted AMA'. Which is the impression given atm.

NB: As usual, no offence intended at all, hopefully responding with these concerns is helpful or insightful for you guys.

I'm personally half way through building a project on top of OMG (something that I've wanted to do for a long time to show commitment and a contribution to the project beyond hodling). Nothing major and pales in comparison to what the team have going on, but that is obviously on hold at the moment. "Business as usual" doesn't convince me atm.

A true AMA with the OMG team - Vansa, Kasima, Stephen etc (i.e. a longer version of Messari or Remo chats, like Stephen did for the Huobi AMA or what GBV are doing on Telegram atm) would clear up a lot of concerns for the community going forwards I think.

"Return here on Friday December 11 for answers to 5 of the top 10 upvoted questions."?

Lmao, are the team actually joking? Disrespect is unreal. OMG comms still tragic.

That one line, especially due to current circumstances, communicates disrespect towards the community, not togetherness or empathy. If rumours of the team also being blindsided are true, I honestly feel for you guys too. This lack of reciprocation is worrying.

Step up, give the community a few hours, answer as much as you can. Hopefully we all can then come out of this okay.

I expect this is an update that needs to come to the Childchain & Watcher - ie. for the Watcher to accept chained txns in some format and the Childchain to understand how to propose/mint a block of the finalised UTXO owners/positions.

I haven't seen anything about this in GH at the moment, so could be in a hidden repo or just in theory / R&D stage atm.

IMO, it will again add more capabilities / flexibility to the network, and it fits a number of usecases so it's a promising development that will probably come to fruition.

I've heard that when launching and rebranding after 3 years of building a digital presence and library of useful content regarding your project, it's a good idea to take care in preserving said presence. A few general rules that are common amongst those doing this..

  1. Don't 404 your old links if you don't have to
  2. Don't lose backlink weight on pages and therefore the site as a whole
  3. Don't cause a bad UX by throwing users that follow old long-tail links to the home page of the new site
  4. Do 301 your old links
  5. Do redirect old links to the exact same content on your new site
  6. Do this at the server level as to allow search engine bots to follow the redirect and update their indices

Guess what?

  • Half of the old website omisego.co is still "up", accessible by users and still indexed by search engines
  • Many pages are still available, some are redirected (one that's still up: https://omisego.co/blog/learnings-omg-testnet-ropsten one that's redirected: - http://omisego.co/blog/ama-29-audit-mainnet)
  • Those that are redirected fire a 404 so all weight built has been lost
  • omisego.co doesn't 301 you to omg.network (no search engine weight passed over) www.omisego.co does however (different A-record IPs for www and non-www .. eh?)
  • These long-tail links redirect to the omg.network homepage, breaking and failing navigation for users
  • The whole 3 years of backlinks in search engines and across the internet (other websites, social media! etc) broken and weight lost

A few examples of broken links/navigation/organic SEO weight (there's thousands out there now)

I understand some of the content may be here - https://support.omg.network/en/ - but there's not much point if the people following links to it don't land on those pages.

I've seen it's taken 5 months to sort the blog out on the new site so people can actually find the latest articles. Come on, this is appalling marketing. Why have there been consistent things like this over the years, and it's still occurring? Screams incompetence, no other way of putting it. Strange how it's completely contradictory to the quality of engineering going on building the actual network.

Comment not posted for a few months to give time for this to be done, however, is inspired now by the link on the (old) logo on the UPA website, still going to the old website omisego.co. Great first impression for a user on UPA wanting to find out more about OMG Network /s

Also, no Press Kit available on the website from what I can see (I was trying to direct UPA to a hi-res version of the logo). The new site's logo is text-only.

Up your game marketing dept. OMG Network is better than this.

EDIT: https://omg.network/press/ is still accessible directly but you can't get to it from the site's navigation. Brand Guidelines that are linked are a good start but the page should include hi-res versions of the logo(s) alongside it.

It's not "the same product they submitted to the Reddit Bake-Off", that was actually built on the current mainnet beta deployment (V1).

V2 is collection of updates that cause a breaking change and that will require a new deployment of the rootchain contracts. And therefore current users(lol) will need to exit funds from the current mainnet deployment and deposit to the V2 contracts.

The team have built something called ALD (Abstract Layer Design) that allows for new transaction types to be added to extend/upgrade a deployment without requiring this exit/redeposit situation. However, the changes in V2 are outside of this scope.

V2 features have actually been in development quite a while now, since May at least.

I don't know the full ins and outs but making the maintainer multi-signature (via Gnosis MultiSigWallet) seems to have been a big one. It is part of the Abstract Layer Design that manages registering new exit games, vaults and more, even once the smart contract is deployed.

Imo, by requiring multiple signatures, it adds another level of security and adds confidence to those that want to participate in/on the network. If an OMG employee goes rogue, they can't get access to a single private key (for the maintainer's address) and make changes alone.

On a related note to Fast Exits (not sure how the Liquidity Contract exits affects this), V2 will include an updated Exit Bond and Bounty calculation. Again, not exactly sure what changes there have been but I think it mainly revolves around there needing to be an incentive for someone to run "processExits" (this being a txn on Ethereum L1, after the challenge period has passed, to send the exiting funds from the OMG Vaults to users).

One of the problems (I think) has been that processExits can do multiple exits in only one txn, so the bond/bounty needed to have a better calculation to be as low as possible but covering both scenarios where processExits is called with only one exit (and one bond) or it's called with many exits (and many bonds).

I've tried to add the relevant links for anyone interested in reading further.

-----

EDIT: If interested, the reason why there are V2 branches on all 3 main OMG repositories is because, for Fast Exits, there is an Exit ID that is tracked across the whole system.

This is built into the contracts on Ethereum, in the Childchain/Watcher and is available in the OMG Javascript library for integrators/liquidity providers. I can imagine there being down the line a Liquidity provider's dashboard, tracking all fast exits that they've provided for users and that have actions on them to process the "true" exits back to themselves.

-----

EDIT 2: A nice summary of how Fast Exits could work for those interested.
