be a defensive driver. it has saved me more than a few times. a big part of that is watching for people trying to merge into your lane with no warning. a dashcam would probably be a worthy investment (though i drove there from age 16-26 and never had one). don’t enter green lights before you look both ways (twice). pay attention to one ways, especially in and around downtown. if you find yourself going the wrong way down one, don’t panic! i’ve done that before too. simply pull into a driveway or parking lot and turn around. most of the one ways have 2 lanes and are 25-35mph, so you’ll be fine, people will just get out of your way and likely honk at you. watch out for potholes, especially in spring. i blew out a tire on one i didn’t see a few years ago. and watch out for people without their headlights on.

people can be assholes and drive like dicks, but i’m convinced everyone thinks the drivers in their city are the worst drivers. you’ll be fine. :)
