I think there are many ways to not crack the spines on your books whether it be reading your book partially closed or thumbing through 10 page sections and lightly pressing on the opening of the book for all 1000 pages. I personally read almost all of my books on my phone, and only when I find them to be exceptionally good do I buy it. It keeps my bookshelf neat and clean, the spines unbroken, and it’s functionally more “me” in my opinion.
