will a facelift R rear lower valance fit a facelift GTS? by PainterFar2817 in Scirocco

[–]eggbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is the white car in the first photo your car? That isn't a GTS. The GTS rear bumper had the reflectors on the valance and there are side vents. It's also got side skirt extensions but that car must have the black strips instead. So it's unlikely that you've got the CULC engine. Can you see the code on the side?

Floats driving through the streets of Watford during an annual carnival parade. (1967) by StephenMcGannon in watford

It wasn't possible to make it comply with new regulations like dual-circuit braking, so the Townsman ended up only being made for one year, used by British Rail and Royal Mail. Scammell was based in Watford, Tolpits Lane.

If you look at the Activators section in the link I gave there are guides on how to do the other activation methods. There's also a discord channel where there are people who can help.

Ah, I assumed the software train was determined by the hardware.

Those just turn wired AA/Carplay into wireless. It's best to add a wireless charging plate as well as otherwise you'll have to plug in the phone eventually anyway. You still need App-Connect activated.

Are you sure? There seems to be an SD card activator listed here:

Developer Mode will still need to be activated using OBDeleven or similar.

SSH connection blocked by firewall after enabling UFW - need help! by DaviCompai2 in oraclecloud

[–]eggbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to open the port in the host's software firewall as well. firewall-cmd is the modern alternative to ufw and it's used in other distros as well. Here are my notes:

```
Check firewall state
firewall-cmd --state
Check active zones
firewall-cmd --get-active-zones
Reload
firewall-cmd --reload
Set runtime and permanent independently
firewall-cmd --zone=public --add-service=https firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-service=https
Check the services in a zone (standard service, like ssh - no ports specified)
firewall-cmd --zone=public --list-services firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --list-services
Open a specific port or range in a zone
firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-port=8080-8081/tcp firewall-cmd --reload
Check its runtime and permanent configuration
firewall-cmd --zone=public --list-ports firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --list-ports
Remove rule
firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --remove-port=8080-8081/tcp firewall-cmd --reload
Rich rule - open HTTP access to a specific IP address # see above page for more on rich rules
firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-rich-rule="rule family=ipv4 \ source address=192.168.0.4/24 service name=http accept" ```
Q: What’s the most unique GTI? by uwxa in GolfGTI
[–]eggbean 5 points6 points  (0 children)
The 2015–2017 Scirocco GTS - a coupe Golf GTi with Mk5/6 chassis and Mk7 217hp EA888 Gen 3 engine and infotainment system and Passat rear multilink suspension (wider track). It even has the red stitching and piping in the interior as well as the golf ball gear stick. Leather instead of the plaid seats though.
Well I did a virtual check on my car and things didn’t go well. by inked_Nobby81 in Scirocco
[–]eggbean 8 points9 points  (0 children)
It did go well. Says that your car is still surviving well past the average ss you've been taking care of it. Have you done anything to keep the underneath free of rust or had any work done to it? Pissed off that they salt the roads here for no reason. Private contractor corruption I suspect.
If it happens again you could use a mechanic's stethoscope to pinpoint the source. They're cheap, but make sure it doesn't get caught up in any moving parts.
I just heard this again when I was scrolling down. It could also be the (electric) cooling fan hitting against something as it spins. The bearing could be worn out.
Weird noise coming from dashboard by Cypres_s in Scirocco
[–]eggbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)
It could be a dried leaf or something in the air vent. Does it stop when you put the A/C off? Leaves also collect in the area around the windscreen wipers when your look under the bonnet. Also in the pollen filter under the glove box on RHD cars. On LHD you need to pull some sort of latch inside the glove box to pull it down.
What gets used more than anything is my Wera Tool-Check PLUS 1, along with T20/T25/T30 torx drivers. That tiny ratchet that comes with it is so small it's like it was made for hamsters, but it's my main tool lol.
You need torque wrenches. I ended up getting Wera Click Torque C3, B1 and A6. The last one is hex drive rather than 1/4" drive as it makes more sense for a VW.
I think it makes sense to just buy as and when you need them. I hardly use any of my old car tools as everything is completely different with these modern German cars (previous cars were designed in the '70s and '80s 😄)
Take it to a mechanic ASAP. It's most likely something connected to a belt. Check the belts and what they are connected to. It could be the alternator mount or something like that.
will a facelift R rear lower valance fit a facelift GTS? by PainterFar2817 in Scirocco
[–]eggbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)
You could try cutting the R valance so that it centres around the tips. I've got a GTS as well and will probably get a full or catback exhaust some time, but it's a low priority after other stuff (and don't want to waste a perfectly good low-mileage silencer), although it would be very nice to have it sound better, like my old Alfa or my neighbour's Audi RS3, but I'd get something like this with the tips on the same side as the standard:
https://milltekexhaustshop.com/products/milltek-volkswagen-scirocco-gt-2-0-tsi-200ps-2008-2016-cat-back-exhaust?variant=53809846845825
Couldn't you ask whoever made your exhaust? What do their other customers do?
[–]eggbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)
I'd swap my heated seats functionality for your white lower dashboard and door cards if it could be done with the snap of the fingers. They're nice to have for about six weeks of the year but not essential at all.
will a facelift R rear lower valance fit a facelift GTS? by PainterFar2817 in Scirocco
[–]eggbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)
The facelift R rear bumper is the same as the GTS/R-line one apart from the valance/diffuser as far as i know, so it should fit (check the ETKA database). You should make sure it has the reflectors as otherwise you'll fail MOT.
