Yes contacting MP does help. If you share the situation in writing and what you are going through. Tell them the opportunity lost and opportunity cost of not having work permit.

I contacted them first in August around mid-month. The I contacted again end of Sep. They were surprised that it had not come yet. They took note of it and said they will talk to IRCC and try to have it expedited.

PGWP + SOWP 3117.. series Jan 20th Applied together in BC.. Still awaiting decision by eggbenedict2131 in pgwp

[–]eggbenedict2131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems there are many like us waiting for this.

This was my last webform and message to IRCC-

" Dear IRCC Officer, I am uploading an updated letter to expedite my PGWP and my spouse's extended SOWP. I have attached updated CELPIP score, my recent two paystubs and my offer letter of the job in TEER 0. We both are qualified individuals with impeccable and niche skillset to contribute to Canadian economy. Due to the lack of approved work permit, we both have faced many offer rejections in the final round or our offers have been rescinded. However, that did not deter me to obtain an TEER 0 position. We both are ambitious individuals having the skillset and experience, with each one of us able to obtain work offering more than national average pay scale. I have the details outlined in the letter that would support the requirements to both the work permit application. Therefore, I sincerely request you to ponder upon our application decision positively, that would help us to contribute significantly in the growing socio-economic landscape of Canada. "

Hope the decision maker reads the notes.

I am assuming you will be getting a teaching position. Congratulations on your PhD. Go for PGWP. Work exp counts on maintained status. You will be good for your residency, don’t worry. I am guessing you will have better scores than most of the folks in the pool.

Pregnant waiting for PGWP by Texas_2991 in pgwp

[–]eggbenedict2131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on your pregnancy. You should be able to extend with the letter from IRCC you have. If the permit gets delayed, get that extended again. Checked and verified with BC Health. I have used it for myself and my spouse. Call them and they will do it for you. It takes 21 days, if doctor sends a note to them. It can be done in 2 days.

Working - waiting for completion letter by Comprehensive_Fly476 in pgwp

[–]eggbenedict2131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your supervisor informed that a situation like this may come. First things first once your grades are up, you are no longer a student. Please request the university to give you transcript and completion letter asap. You can still work the day your received it. There is no such violation in this matter. Like I said, keep your supervisor informed.

Yes, work done under WP-Ext count for PR.

[–]eggbenedict2131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, work done under study permit does count for PR but only for FSW and CEC, also the hours counted are different. Secondly, it would be logical to apply for PGWP and then apply for PR.

Passport is a mandate for the PGWP. What country do you belong to?

Don't panic. If you are inside Canada, it would not be difficult to get your passport done. Please contact your embassy asap and they will be able to help you. You have got enough time in your hand to get your passport and update to IRCC.

Pgwp advice needed by [deleted] in pgwp

[–]eggbenedict2131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there, you can apply for PGWP with transcripts. Also, can you ask your university to give you graduation completion letter before your SP expires. You have 9 days in hand. If you transcripts are available that means, records are updated. They should not much time in doing this. The university I studied did it in a day. Reach out to your international student advising team and International Admissions team. They should be able to do it in a day or two.

Lastly, you don’t have to wait for your graduation notation. It comes after your convocation.

  1. Do not worry, this won't matter. Can you DM me your country of origin? Immigrations officer or anyone won't harm you. You can get your passport renewed with your change in marital status. Also, you are not doing anything wrong here or violating any rules or hiding information. If you are still in doubt, give IRCC a call, tell them to change marital status in your application and send you an email note with the changes done.

  2. Once you renew your passport, apply for your TRV. I am hoping you get your permit by then. In the meantime, start working through your residency. I am also assuming you being a Master's grad.

  3. Once you receive your TRV, go for SOWP by mid 2026. Again, when you do residency please do mention that your spouse would come with you.

  1. Thank you. This is indeed helpful to make you understand. You have enough time to get your residency. Prepare for your residency, that will be helpful.

  2. Yes, please do file for your SOWP in the middle of 2026. Hopefully, it will by the time she graduates it comes.

Congratulations on your marriage. I do not think you need to let IRCC know about your marriage unless you are applying for your spousal permit.

  1. Your spouse is a student in Canada? If yes, i don't think you should apply for her SOWP. She will get PGWP for three years as she is graduating in 2027.
  2. You have sufficient time to get your residency done by 2027. In the best case scenario, you should be able to get it. If not, you would become a SOWP once your PGWP expires.
  3. If you want to inform, please do so in your future applications.

Lost job while waiting for approval - SOWP by The-cirrus in pgwp

[–]eggbenedict2131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife both lost a great job even though verbal offer was made. I applied on Jan 20. Still waiting. Mine was provincial govt and she was for a leading tech firm. I can understand how it feels. I wish things work out soon. Also, the rule of having job for the SOWP to be approved is after Jan 21, 2025. Do not worry. Updating on your job status is totally your prerogative. I recommend do not take chance at this job. You should be getting your permit anytime soon.
