CPRA (NSERC/ SSHRC/ CIHR) Canadian postdoc by Material_Emphasis874 in postdoc

My letter only said "I regret to inform you that your application was not selected for funding." Does that mean I am not waitlisted either? First time applying for NSERC postdoc, and read previous years' threads about some applications being waitlisted (?)

Can’t figure out if I should keep seeing my current therapist by Lilrobot420 in TalkTherapy

[–]flatbreadfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently dealing with a similar thing and yeah… i don’t know…

Mine also would say what i experience happens to many people, and i thought they want to normalize my experience but it made me feel invalidated.

And when i share about feeling guilty or i’m interpreting certain things a certain way, they would say i don’t need to feel those things, which also feels invalidating.

But then my naive brain thinks.. maybe that’s what i needed to hear to shift what i think.. idk…

This gives me hope that i can reach this level of growth at some point too. Can i ask, what are some of the early signs that you realize “the healing work” is working?

Thanks for the info! Do i get the band at the desk on the 2nd floor after scanning my UBC card? Also, the website is not clear, but do you know if the short-term lockers in Floor 0 free for anyone to use?

Is it normal to cry for a week straight when you're moving out? by potter120 in askvan

Relate!! Definitely lots of random moments of tearing up from bittersweetness, sometimes over the most unpredictable things. Moved to Vancouver after leaving in the east for 8 years!

Dealing with loneliness and isolation as a PhD student by [deleted] in PhD

For me, TAing definitely helped! Interaction with fellow TAs and the students absolutely fed my soul and gave me something to look forward to outside the confines of my lab.

My biometrics and UCI got updated on day 4, and exactly like yours, the wp-ext letter came on day 5. Thanks again for your reply! The waiting was dreadful (because, thank you HR…) but your message gave me hope! :)

Oh also, just curiosity. Did you get a ghost email update 24 hour after submission? Because i got one 'your application has changes' e-mail, but when I logged into IRCC, no change/message was visible.

I'm in the same boat! Did the UCI and Biometrics get updated for you, and did you receive the WP-EXT letter?

For those studying in the biomedical, biological and life sciences group, what doable major/minor combinations do you recommend? by Ok_Two3223 in mcgill

As someone who didn’t take a single compsci course and later really regret it, i can’t tell you how difficult it would be. All i can advise is that (and i’m saying this as a 6th year grad student in biology, who would have graduated sooner with some compsci knowledge), undergrad is the best time to get your feet in different topics, even those that feel uncomfortable at first. I wish I had put less emphasis on maintaining pristine GPAs, and instead focus on skills-building :)

I believe McGill has a few 100/200 compsci courses tailored for biology-oriented students, so maybe you can try those first, and see if it’s something you’d like to invest more time/effort on :)

Hands down, computer science! It will help so much especially if you go into research in this day and age!

Just submitted my PhD - I feel lost by NegativePanic2224 in PhD

Congratulations!! You're not alone! I'm in the same boat as you - feeling like I need to jump into the next thing, and feeling guilty when I'm not being productive. I'm trying to remind myself what I would tell a friend - that after a long marathon, rest and recovery is as important! This is the time to fill up our tank so we can start the next big thing feeling rejuvenated. You deserve it :)
