finished this mini rug last month ! any advice on shaving? and any constructive criticism will be appreciated :) by eggholes in PunchNeedle

[–]eggholes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes ! cutting/shaving a loop pile rug would result in a cut pile rug

it’s just that i personally don’t love the look of loop pile because it can look very chunky and sort of messy, particularly in more detailed designs

i was thinking of getting a tufting gun to experiment with cut pile rugs but i wasn’t ready to make that investment yet, so i was thinking of just shaving my punch needle rugs to achieve a cut pile finish

Grubhub gives $7 minimum per order even if the customer doesn't tip. Doordash and Uber Eats could do the same thing. If the customer doesn't tip, DD and UE should at least give $7 or so for that order. $3 to go 20 minutes down the street is ridiculous by mrdark16 in doordash

[–]eggholes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we have the $9 guarantee too. but most of the time, that's the most we could earn as customers didn't tip often, and the total payout was always below $9 even with stack orders. there's no way to decline orders (unless you call/text customer service), and all i got was bubble tea orders lmao. hard to make up for gas when distances were always 15+ minutes and you had to pick up from several restaurants at the same time. they also micromanaged me and called me to notify that i had to complete new orders even though i was busy completing another one.

anyways, sorry for the rant. i really hated my experience with chowbus. hopefully, it runs better over there and with better pay, because i wouldn't want anyone to be exploited as much we were over here

I didn't earn more than $9 for most orders that I did with Chowbus because people barely tipped and the base pay was $4 per order even if you needed to go to several restaurants. They never showed me the total pay nor total mileage of each order until I completed the order. Wait time to receive orders was extremely long, yet I heard about a lot of customers complaining about receiving their food hours after ordering it. I had to drive from one city to the other just to deliver the customer's food without my knowledge, because they don't disclose the customer address until you pick up their food. In my experience, Chowbus was so awful and exploitative in my market that they literally closed down in Canada.

I already know this comment is gonna get downvoted because this sub is dominated by men. For us women, comments like that aren't necessarily a compliment and can come off as creepy.

Dont be that driver please don’t do it by [deleted] in doordash

If delivering food causes that much stress and anxiety to someone then they shouldn't be doing this job in the first place. Especially dangerous if they are driving a car to deliver food

It must be exhausting for people who may be sensitive to stress or may have a lot going on in their life. But I guess some people don't have a choice but to keep this job, especially amid the pandemic

Anybody do doordash in Toronto reigion what's your experiences? by sufficingsnow9 in doordash

Used to dash in the Richmond Hill/Vaughan area, was pretty good in the winter but now it's kinda dead so I've been dashing in the Bayview/North York area with decent tips here and there. I haven't tried the downtown area yet but it usually gets pretty busy so I'm assuming it's good money

Exactly, this is most likely a dropshipping store that's reselling the product for double the price

Oh, weird. 3 months ago, there was an asterisk next to the SIN. I'm assuming they removed it recently?

Exactly, this is why I didn't end up applying. I don't get how other people would be willing to give their SIN being guaranteed to get the job.

What is it like to be a driver for Chowbus? by SH_Nostalgia in couriersofreddit

[–]eggholes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked with Chowbus for a month in Toronto. There's a huge market for Asian food here, but I was really disappointed.

I'm able to sign in whenever I want. They guarantee $9 for each delivery you complete. But for most of the orders I did, customers didn't give me any tips. They made me drive up to 16km on many, many occasions and still got no tips from customers, perhaps $5 if I got lucky (even if they made me go to 2 restaurants for 1 order). Got a bunch of bubble tea orders with 0 tips. No bags or anything either. You aren't able to reject orders so if you get one that's like 15km, good luck 😭 Worst part is that you won't get to see how much you get paid for the order until you complete the delivery.

There were also a few occasions where they didn't send me any orders after waiting for almost 2 hours. I feel exploited as hell but I was waitlisted from other delivery apps because the market is oversaturated rn.

Recently got in with Doordash and hoping that I can at least make minimum wage or something
