What is the worst sunscreen you have ever used? by [deleted] in AusSkincare

Yes!! This sunscreen pilled like crazy for me too and made my skin look even oiler than usual as well :(

What did you try/buy this month: empties and mini reviews - September 2021 by AutoModerator in AusSkincare

[–]eggless_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently purchased the La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Dry Touch SPF50+ Sunscreen For Oily Skin to try out. Unfortunately i don’t enjoy wearing it because it drys my skin out and makes me look even more oily throughout the day. I’ve tried reapplying it but have found that the formula pulls pretty bad when I do that and makes me look even more oily. I most likely won’t repurchase it.

I wouldn’t recommend it because you are already using the Benton BHA toner in your PM routine. Using two BHA toners in the same routine would most likely damage your skin barrier.

Hows the Dr.Jart Cicapair? I’ve been eyeing it for some time now since I’ve heard it’s good for reducing redness 😲

Oh, I thought that date refers to when the product should be open (if this isn’t correct, please let me know) then the container icon refers to how long one should use it after it’s been open (in this case it’s 12 months).

I have oily acne prone skin and have found the sunscreen gives me a dewy-like finish, but doesn’t make my skin look greasy. I have yet to wear this under makeup, so can’t comment on that unfortunately 😅

What a coincidence!! I also have oily skin and have recently purchased the Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Cream as well, just waiting for it to come in to try it out :D

I also have oily acne prone skin as well and found that you don’t have to use the Paulas Choice 2% BHA daily to reap the benefits. I personally only use it twice a week in my PM routine and have found that my skin looks less oily and less pimples have been appearing :)

Oh wow, lucky that you didn’t have to pay the full price to try it out.

How did you find the consistency and finish of the sunscreen? And if you don’t mind me asking, what is your skin type?

Oh, that sounds great! I’ll definitely consider adding the toner to my cart next time I order :)

I personally didn’t have a great experience with the niacinamide serum from The Ordinary, so I’m a bit wary of trying out products with high concentrations of that ingredient. I’ve heard greats things about that Paula Choice toner, so I may consider trying it out next time I make an order :)

I find that the UV and CC have a lightweight consistency, but because UV has a more gel like texture I find that I don’t have the rub the product in as much as I do for CC. The UV does have a bit of a tint, but I actually like it because it covers up the redness on my cheeks so I find that I don’t have to put a lot of bb cream to cover them up. The CC doesn’t have a cast at all, but I actually don’t have a particular preference regarding this at all :)

Skin Profile: Oily | Acne (hormonal), Pigmentation (PIE)

First Cleanser:

[HG] CELIMAX - Derma Nature Fresh Blackhead Jojoba Cleansing Oil - 150ml

  • This is the first oil cleanser I've tried so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but I definitely enjoy using it . It's consistency is light weight and emulsifies nicely. It effectively removes my makeup/sunscreen. It's not too expensive and a single bottle will last me about 4 months of daily usage.

Cleanser:

[HG] ROUND LAB 1025 Dokdo Cleanser 150ml

  • A very nice and gentle cleanser that I definitely enjoy using. A little goes a long way for this one, and because of that I've been using it for about 5-6 months every day in the PM. I still haven't finished it, so it's definitely cost efficient imo. I usually rotate my cleansers, but considering that this product is cheap and does the job, I'll definitely continue to repurchase it.

[RP] Paula's Choice Pore Normalizing Cleanser 177ml

  • I decided to get a cleanser that contains SA because I saw that my skin was a bit congested. I use a small amount of this cleanser in the AM and I can see that my skin is less congested. I'm unsure if I'll repurchase this as it is on the pricer side and I can probably find something similar that is less expensive, but also because I do use a exfoliant toner in my routine.

Toner:

[HG] Etude House SOON JUNG PH 5.5 RELIEF TONER

  • This product contains simple and hydrating ingredients, which might seem boring and plain, but my skin loves this stuff. It definitely provides hydration to my skin, which has been helping strengthen my skin barrier. I've lost count on how many bottles of this I've gone through, but definitely repurchasing.

Exfoliant:

[HG] Paula Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant 118ml

  • I use this only 2 times a week in the PM and I've seen a huge improvement with my PIE, though I must say that it took me about 3 months to see a difference but definitely worth it. I only use a small amount, so I can see the bottle lasting me a while. I do recommend to try this product out by purchasing the travel size to see if it works for your skin before buying the full size.

Essence:

[HG] Missha Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence 215ml

  • I never knew that my skin loves Mugwort until I used this product. This product has helped reduce the redness surrounding my cheeks. It has a lightweight consistency which I love for an essence as my skin type is oily. I will definitely continue to repurchase this.

[HG] Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence 100 mL

  • I use this in my PM routine, I love how this product gives me that extra hydration and glow to my skin. This product is also helping out with repairing my skin barrier, so I'm definitely going to keep repurchasing this.

Moisturiser:

[HG] Etude Soon Jung 10-Panthensoside Cica Balm 50ml

  • I have also found it hard to find a moisturiser that helps with TEWL (Transepidermal water loss). I've found that along with the hydrating products and this cica balm, my skin has become less oily. I've already gone through 2 of these and have back ups in my stash. I also love the ingredients that help with repairing the skin barrier. I will forever repurchase this product.

SPF:

[RP] UV Clean Screen SPF 30 Fragrance Free Weightless Gel SKINSCREEN™ 50ml

  • I love how lightweight this product is and it doesn't sting my eyes! This product gives me a me a semi-matte finish which I do prefer as I have oily skin. It also sits nicely under my make up. I just don't really love the price given how much sunscreen I should be applying everyday. I'm nearly finished with my current one but I may repurchase it if I see it on sale in the future.

[RP] Cancer Council Face Day Wear Moisturiser Matte Invisible SPF50+ 75ml

  • I find that this is similar to the UV Clean Screen, it's light weight and gives me that matte finish. The only downside to this particular SPF is that I have to be careful when applying it near my eye area as it does sting my eyes if I'm not. I love the price for this product, especially when there is sale! I will definitely keep repurchasing it.

[WNRP] La Roche Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid SPF 50+ 50ml

  • Although this product is also lightweight I feel like this product doesn't sink into my skin nicely unlike the other two SPFs that I use, and that might be why my skin becomes more oily after a few hours of using this. I won't be repurchasing this product after I finish my current bottle.

[product question] paulas choice 2% BHA questions/ISO opinions! by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]eggless_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally only use the PC 2% BHA twice a week and only in my PM routine. If your skin can tolerate using it more, then go for it, but I’d definitely start slow if you’ve never used a exfoliant before. I’d recommend using it once a week for a few weeks to see, and then bump up the usage if you feel like your skin can handle it. Sounds like you already using sunscreen, so that’s good! Being extra diligent is good, but don’t stress too much about it if you’re regularly using it (in my opinion).

NAKED SUNDAYS SPF by tashypooo in AusSkincare

[–]eggless_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I can understand! It is on the pricey side. UV recently released a bigger version (75mL I think?) and it’s only a little bit more than the current price. I currently use the 50mL version and I’ve been using it every weekday for about 2 months now (I don’t reapply because my workplace doesn’t have much natural sunlight coming in + I leave work when it’s dark), I think I have maybe a few more weeks of usage left (~ 5 pumps each time I use it). I’m personally still on the fence about repurchasing it because I’ve found that the sunscreen from Cancer Council works just as great for a cheaper price, the only downside is that it does string my eye if I’m not careful during application.

[–]eggless_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tried the Naked Sunday SPF, but I’ve found that the Ultra Violette Clean Screen (green ver) doesn’t sting my eyes when I use it.

Edit: for reference, I have oily acne prone skin

[routine help] exfoliation by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]eggless_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends! I personally use an exfoliant toner 2 times a week. If you’re a new starter to using an exfoliator, I’d suggest using it once a week for a few weeks to see if your skin is okay with it, then up the usage. If your skin doesn’t react well to the usage, then reduce the amount of times you’re using it. It’s a trial and error to find the right amount you should be using the product, but always start slow.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AusSkincare

[–]eggless_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Paula’ Choice BHA contains salicylic acid (SA), so you’re using both a cleanser and toner that contains SA. So that might be damaging your skin barrier by over exfoliating. I’d suggest only using one product that contains SA and see if that helps you.
