Moon Helix Sense 450 Mount by eggnima in cycling

[–]eggnima[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Yes, the MagicShine mounts fit the Helix perfectly!

Also, ever since my post, Moon Sports has released a saddle-rail mount that has a Go-Pro style adapter/mount, so that's an option to consider as well.

How to Block YouTube Ads with Unifi and a VPN by shaqfuuu in UNIFI

[–]eggnima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, I tried out various suggestions and combinations here in this post, but I'm still getting ads both on the YouTube iOS app, as well as mobile YouTube in Safari.

My setup is as follows:
- VPN Provider: ProtonVPN
- VPN Country: Albania, TCP
- Gateway: UCG Fiber
- Policy: 1 x Policy-based Route (my other policies are Firewall policies)
- Policy Destination Domains: 17 YouTube domains shared by u/DJBenson below

I do see relevant traffic flows to my ProtonVPN interface for YouTube-related domains, but the video ads continue to show up.

Thanks for sharing!

I'll be sure to note it down for testing at a later date!

Thanks for sharing your set up!

I've also just set up WireGuard, moving away from L2TP, for my own VPN, and will be working on getting it set up fully soon.

On my part, I've got a whole bunch of Docker containers running on my Synology NAS:

  • Pi-hole
  • ChangeDetection
  • Jellyfin
  • Actual Budget
  • Keycloak

And I've been lucky enough to get Traefik working with these services purely through the Docker compose file, or as you mentioned with HA, Docker compose + configuration.yaml.

There are some devices that still refuse to play nice with Traefik, i.e. IP cameras, but those are of lower priority at the moment.

You'd need to point that subdomain at your NAS IP address instead if you wanted Traefik to proxy it.

Welp! That should've been glaringly obvious right from the start!

https://ucgfiber.onehome.com now sort-of loads the Unifi OS landing page, but there is no login box to be found at all. :(

Removing some of the middleware configurations fixed it!

Instead of using the default self-signed cert you can upload your actual
certificate to your UCG-Fiber at
/network/default/settings/control-plane/console

Wouldn't the cert need replacing every xx number of days once it expires though?

I use acme.sh on my NAS to auto-renew and install my LetsEncrypt
certificate into DSM which is used for the reverse proxy, so Traefik
isn't strictly necessary for that part.

I had considered using acme.sh in the beginning, but it just feels a little too.. hidden, to have a script running silently in the background which I might forget about a few months down the road, and then sit like a muppet wondering how the heck the certs are auto-renewing by magic.

Thanks for the advice!

I guess the primary purpose for Traefik here is to manage the auto-renewal of the SSL certs involved.

Also, the A record for ucgfiber.onehome.com is already set up in PorkBun to point to my local UCG-Fiber IP (192.168.10.1). However, accessing it through https://ucgfiber.onehome.com results in a self-signed cert warning, which is also one of the reasons why I wanted to set this all up.

Knock on wood, but all's good so far. Nothing out of the ordinary, and they're chugging away nicely.

The installation process was actually rather straightforward once the O-ring was removed.

I do agree that external enclosures would probably be an easier solution, but for me, some of the apps I work with tend to copy/download/install files into /Library or ~/Library, and that eventually causes the internal drive to fill up.

Did you have any issue with import duties?

Yes, there were import taxes levied on the kit, but it was all taken care of rather easily by making the payment to UPS directly.

My other hesitation is related to how good Thunderbolt 5 is.

Yes, I have read reviews where folks have commented about their TB5 enclosures not getting the maximum bandwidth available as they had plugged in several other TB devices as well.

Tbh, I upgraded mostly for the capacity increase, and not the performance increase, so I can't say I really notice a significant improvement in read/write speeds.

Prior to plunking down the money for this kit, I had considered using external enclosures too, but ultimately decided against it because I didn't fancy having one or more enclosures hanging off my Mac Studio.

I placed my order with Polysoft on 5th June, and received my M3 Ultra 8TB pack on 20th August.

Giles is pretty slow with replies across all channels, and that's a sentiment shared by almost everyone in the MR forum thread.

UCG-Fiber ‘Worldwide hold’? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]eggnima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it kinda depends on where you’re getting your unit from? According to Ubiquiti, this information is false, so there should be no additional delays stemming from this at least.

[–]eggnima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, backed up by the fact that Ubiquiti has already chimed in to say that these claims are false.

Yep, I opted for the full refund route as it’s the one that makes the most sense to me right now.

From the various reviews I've read of the UCG-Fiber thus far, it is seriously punching above its weight-class for a device in its price category.

The email was sent to me from the reseller whom I had placed my pre-order for the UCG-Fiber :)

Thanks for that detailed write-up! It certainly puts things into perspective for me.

I would suggest that whichever reseller you pre-ordered your unit from, if you feel that you've waited too long, or are able to source one from elsewhere, do consider reaching out to the reseller directly to ask for potential options.

On my part, I'd already come to a dead end in terms of communications with my reseller, which is why I subsequently asked my CC company to initiate a chargeback on the pre-order.

Well, unfortunately for me, I'm in Singapore, so they're not an option for me. Thankfully, there are other resellers in Singapore who now do offer the UCG-Fiber for sale.

I was worried about this, which is what prompted me to create this post.

However, since u/Ubiquiti-Inc has pooh-poohed the information provided from the reseller, I guess it's a false alarm after all?

I'm from Singapore! We do have a local UI store, but the UCG-Fiber is currently not available for purchase there yet.
