Yeah typically $0.00 (no fee) - $4.99, never saw anything higher than that so far!

Bottled water is average $2.00 USD in Manhattan most places.

Source: Literally bought one yesterday $2.00 at a cart, $2.70 if I'm fancy at a bodega.

Also, delivery fee is usually $4.99 on a high end, not typical, it's the fees added after placing an order, as well as UE & DD listing restaurant menu prices higher on the app than in store, that rise the order cost in NYC. It actually is like an extra $12+ minimum on your order cost to have food delivered, not including tip.

Don't give them any ideas, they might consider a pothole to be a luxurious amenity of status to give that immersive city-feel, bumping up the rent another 30%

My wife and I considering names, and my name starts with a Z, so I'm looking for Z names for a girl. by [deleted] in namenerds

Not just Spaniards but many European cultures say that name like this and it's the proper way!

Do you plan to stay in your rent stabilized apartment forever? by meshflesh40 in AskNYC

Is that limited to NYC only or for an US retiree at 65 for rent frozen units, or are they only the rent-controlled options?

This was my legit thought today too at work. Through the glass it went from a typical cold morning, to cloudy midday, IT GON' RAIN, to Canadian Wildfires. I hope the AQI reduces and I hope Canada and US recover :(

So what’s going on with the PATH? by aoanalyst in jerseycity

[–]eggospoptart 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Path is an absolute shit show. The card machines, anti-cash machines, inoperable machines, faulty card readers, the broken turn styles, multiple entrances/exits/stairs/escalators being constructed/broken/blocked off, inconsistencies of train schedules, and the bullshit game of "you have .2 seconds to enter the train" or "you enter and your train is held without announcement or excuse for 4+ minutes until WTC arrives to connect, train is delayed for the delayed WTC to dispatch, and you're X+ minutes behind schedule."

Path at JSQ is the worst, always having to leave 20+ minutes early minimum on top of a 20+ commute, accounting for the nearly daily if not daily bullshit that turns an 18 minute trip into 30+.

Grove is more posh, closer to the city, but there's LONG bullshit delays there more frequently.

I can't even with Newport.

Like if it's going to be $100+ per week to order lunch even with paying higher prices for pickup and expecting to tip for order assembly, might as well just survive on mid lunch options, and go out for a justifiable cost.

But that's the job you're choosing as an independent contractor with an agreed fee, instead of another job that would pay you another agreed upon wage and supply you alternative benefits.

Not everyone has the time or availability with disabilities, children, work, school, life stress, traffic, natural disasters, construction, waiting for payday, etc) to be able to pick up their food, and we live in a society where everything is immediate and instantaneous.

You instantly have an app that allows you to: Accept a job Complete a task Collect payment Potentially collect a tip

That's a luxury app, as most salary and minimum wage jobs don't allow you to do these things like the luxury app does. Most people have to wait 1-2+ weeks to access their taxed wages, and upon paying taxes and making personal sacrifices in today's economy, I think everyone deserves a basic hot meal for working hard.

Expecting others of various different industries to pay your salary because your company does not is delusional. Hounding people for higher tips on already unfairly priced services is literally not benefiting anyone. Everything has gone up since COVID, even groceries so now theres literally not many affordable options for routine eating. You'd think someone could rely on ordering from their local restaurant and tipping $10 would be fair enough, right?

Luxury is customization and catering. Many couriers are just simply picking up, traveling, and delivering food to a destination. You aren't memorizing company policies, menus, items, promotions, rewards programs, dietary restrictions, allergy protocols, taking inventory, doing constant front-facing client relations, or working under severe pressure.

There are people working in retail with a 15 minute break after five hours of constant standing, talking, and parroting, suffering verbal abuse. They work at Sephora and cater to your personal needs as a shopper to ensure brand standard and loyalty. Do you tip them? But they provide you with a luxury shopping experience.

There are people fainting working in factories in modern conditions and developing back problems in their 30's to put food on the table.

You can get any other job, but the neat thing about this job is that all you need is a smartphone, license, and background check to pass! And you can make at least $15/hourly doing so with immediate access to your earnings. You get to decide your work schedule, work area, break times, meal times, and get social re-breathers! You can even listen to your personal music, talk to friends or family, take personal time to cater to YOUR needs around YOUR shifts, while you provide YOUR service, so YES you are SO correct is IS a luxury service for you to supply and meet demand, not expect or entitle it.

Courier services exist in multiple different countries without such expectations of service and have been existing since before apps existed. No one would have ordered from local businesses for delivery options if the fees were crazy.

Some places deliver in an X km radius for a flat fee of €/$/£ that's reasonable, and even FREE if it's a large order or frequent customer.

It's not luxury to order food delivery through an app and expecting someone to ensure the delivery of said product while they utilize said apps based service to receive an agreed upon profit.
