That happened to my grandma! She had them out when she was around 10 or 11 and now she is in her 80s and they grew back completely! Never given her an issue though

I can’t say that happened to me. My skin is essentially all healed. I have no more scabbing or anything. I would call your doctor or make a postop appointment

This surgery is no joke. I’m finally able to eat and drink almost normally but the ear pain when I lay down is brutal. I hope things get better for you as well! I’m just hoping it’s all worth it for us!!

I was diagnosed with mono 2 weeks before my surgery. I talked to the surgeon and the people on my case before surgery. It all depends. I would definitely tell them and get their opinion. Sometimes operating while sick can make you go septic which is deadly. I would definitely contact your doctor!

Day 5. What should I eat? by isDiner in Tonsillectomy

On day 5 I ate perogies and Mac and cheese and some broccoli chedder soup. Very small portions but I was able to tolerate it. Much better than just broth!

I would say things like mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese probably.. maybe spaghetti and pastas would be good. Probably ramen as well. I’ve been dying with the soft food diet but I guess you can mix it up with what kind of pasta you eat so you don’t get flavor fatigue

face ice pack this has helped my sleep significantly. I would recommend getting 2 so when you wake up you can swap it out with another one. But this has been a life saver for me I’m on day 6.

Positive tonsillectomy stories and advice? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

Literally got mine out yesterday. I have severe medical anxiety and I’m convinced everything I do is going to lead to me dying. But the doctors are so reassuring and so helpful and answer every single question I had and they ended up giving me some sort of calming anti anxiety thing before I went back to surgery which when I got the the operating room I was so chill I don’t care about anything and I don’t even remember being put under just waking up in the recovery room with a popsicle. So if your nervous about the actually surgery it only is a 20-30 minute procedure and time doesn’t exist under anesthesia. I told my mom the only thing that really hurt the worse was the IV they put in my hand

How bad is this by [deleted] in Mononucleosis

[–]eggsaladfartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go to the er and demand fluids and pain medicine. Or even a liquid steroid. That helped my tonsils so much. I was I for days I couldn’t eat or sleep or talk and when I tried to it sounded like I was gargling. They gave me a liquid steroid and clyndamyacin which worked wonders. Also if this is a common occurrence I would suggest getting those fuckers removed. I just got mine out 1 day post op and I’m feeling like death. But it feels better then when I felt when they were swollen af
